Although the coffee and cakes are a bit slow, it seems that people still do not know that we do them and some have been put off by one bad experience while we are learning. I hope they will give us another go at some stage. Otherwise we are doing well and actually making money. The donations to the shop have been wonderful, and it is just about time to try and promote and advertise it further—eg to the “day op shoppers” and beyond, and also go further with all the other RE’s we envisaged when we set it up. We will also be hosting another death café, to be held at the shop. Ask all the questions you wanted to and talk to people about what happens at end of life. Put forward your views on what you think feel and wonder about this very special time in peoples lives. Fernlea House encourages a holistic approach to death and dying, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to nurture conversations about living and dying. “Only by talking about our fears can we truly embrace life in its entirety” Our service in Pakenham on Fridays is now fully booked with 10 people, so we are be looking how we can expand down there without any extra funding at present. It’s hard to believe summer is over. March heralds the beautiful season of Autumn which is probably to most loved time of the year for many people. Here at Fernlea House we’ve weathered what we hope is another safe summer enjoying various activities including picnics at Emerald Park Lake. During March we look forward to Moomba, looking at our collections, St Patrick’s day and celebrating our pets and other best friends. Please keep in mind that Monday 9th of March is Labour Day and a public holiday so Fernlea will be closed. 2–6 Moomba!
