Update

Download and Installation
The Configurator Tool can be downloaded from www.RavenHelp.com under the
Software Updates section for Slingshot.
Users must have administrative rights on the computer being used to install and
run the Configurator Tool. The Configurator Tool is only compatible with Windows
based computers.
Connecting to a Field Hub
The Field Hub must be powered on with at least one cellular antenna connected
to the Cellular Antenna port on the Field Hub when provisioning the Field Hub for
cellular service.
There are two ways to connect to a Field Hub using a computer:
1. An Ethernet cable can be connected directly from the Field hub to the computer.
Do not use Ethernet to USB adapters as this typically does not work and is not
supported by Raven.
a. Power on the Field Hub, connect an Ethernet cable from the Field Hub to
the computer and run the Configurator Tool. The Configurator Tool will
automatically detect and connect to the Field Hub.
2. The Field Hub can be connected to the Configurator Tool via the Wi-Fi network,
if the Field Hub is Wi-Fi capable.
a. The Field Hub must be powered on with at least one cellular antenna
connected and one Wi-Fi antenna connected.
b. Using the computer’s Wireless internet adapter, connect to the Wi-Fi
network of the Field Hub. The password for the Wi-Fi network is printed
on the sticker on the Field Hub along with the SSID (Service Set Identifier)
commonly known as the Network Name.
c. After the Computer has been connected to the Wi-Fi network of the Field
Hub start the Configurator Tool and it will automatically connect to the
Field Hub.
Note: A USB cable is not supported for use with the Configurator Tool, nor is a
USB to Ethernet adapter (or any other adapter to Ethernet cable). Only the
two connection processes described above are supported.

Provisioning with Configurator
When connected to a Slingshot Field Hub with the Configurator Tool the provision
process is very simple.
Field Hub (Verizon 3G)
1. Select the Provision button on the Configurator.
2. An activation window will appear as displayed below. Select Yes to continue
with the activation process.
3. The Configurator Tool will run the OTASP (Over-The-Air Service Provisioning)
process. During this process the Field Hub contacts the Verizon network to
confirm that the Field Hub is active in the Verizon system with a valid data plan.
The Field Hub also downloads any network settings needed, the phone number
of the data plan, etc.
4. When the OTASP process is complete, the Field Hub will reboot and disconnect
from the Configurator while it is rebooting. When the Field Hub has rebooted,
the Configurator will automatically reconnect. Make sure a WAN and a Phone
number appear in the Configurator Tool window. Once this information has
populated in the Configurator Tool window, disconnect the Field Hub from the
computer and cycle power to the Field Hub. This will cause the Field Hub to run
one final automatic update. After the final automatic update is complete the
Field Hub will again reboot itself. It is now ready to be used.
Field Hub (HSPA)
1. Select the Provision button on the Configurator.
2. The Change APN window will appear as displayed below. Enter the APN for the
carrier being used, as well as the Username and Password, if applicable, then
select OK.
6
Note: Some carriers require a username and password. This information will be
provided by the carrier. Be sure to check what information is needed from
the carrier to activate the Field Hub.
Note: If the SIM card being used is locked by a PIN code, it will need to be
disabled. PIN locked SIM cards are not compatible with Slingshot Field
Hubs as there is no way to enter a PIN code to unlock the SIM card.
3. The Configurator will set the APN information. Once that process is complete,
Configurator will let the user know that the changes will take affect after a
reboot (power cycle) of the Field Hub. Select OK then cycle power to the Field
Hub.
4. After the Field Hub has rebooted, Configurator will automatically reconnect to
the Field Hub. Make sure a WAN and a Phone number appear in the
Configurator Tool window. Once this information has populated in the
Configurator Tool window, disconnect the Field Hub from the computer and
cycle power to the Field Hub. This will cause the Field Hub to run one final
automatic update. After the final automatic update is complete, the Field Hub
will again reboot itself. It is now ready to be used.
Field Hub 2.0 (Verizon)
The Field Hub 2.0 does not require an APN to be manually entered because it will
self-provision from the SIM card installed. If the Field Hub will not connect to the
internet, an APN will need to be manually entered as described below.
1. Select the Provision button on the Configurator.
2. Enter the APN, username (if applicable), and password (if applicable) the select
OK.
Note: Consult with the cellular carrier if you are unsure if a username and/or
password is required.
3. A window will appear telling the user that the changes will take affect after a
reboot. Select OK then cycle power to the Field Hub.
