Philly's red carpet - which will roll out for
today's world premiere of the Bill Cosby
comedy Fat Albert - will get more cinematic
traffic next month.
On Jan. 12, The Woodsman - the creepy drama
starring Kevin Bacon as a child molester trying
to play it straight after serving 12 years in
prison - will have its Philly premiere at the
Annenberg Center in University City. The film,
world-premiering this Wednesday in New York
City, will open nationwide Jan. 14.
Overbrook native producer Lee Daniels and first-time director, Abington-born Nicole Kassell ,
shot the movie here in May and June 2003 with Bacon's wife,Kyra Sedgwick, as well as Eve,
Mos Def, David Alan Grier, Benjamin Bratt and Hannah Pilkes, a Chester County seventh
grader. It's been a hit on the indie circuit, picking up a top prize at the London Film Festival and a
slew of nominations for the Independent Spirit Awards, coming in February.
Expected at the Annenberg premiere, as well as at an after-party at the Marathon Grill nearby, are
Bacon, Sedgwick, Daniels, Bratt, Pilkes and coproducer Damon Dash. Beneficiary charities will be
Mastery Charter School, Philadanco, and, at Bacon's request, the anti-child-abuse group Stop It
Now!
Hey, hey, hey
Fat Albert festivities will start at today's 76ers game (2 p.m.). From there, Cosby and stars,
including Kenan Thompson, will head to the screening at the Liacouras Center on Temple U's
campus.
Temple is going all out, as evidenced by the 30-foot-high Fat Albert inflatable on the Liacouras
marquee. Starting about 5:30 p.m., a red carpet will be stretched out and searchlights will scan
for the film's stars. Sixty-plus members of the Temple band, cheerleaders, and the Diamond Gems
Dance Team - all wearing Fat Albert sweatshirts - will entertain. Before the 7:30 p.m. screening,
Cosby will honor Temple women's basketball coach Dawn Staley for her work at Temple and in
the community, as well as for her starring role in the Olympics. Speaking of hoops: Cosby also is

expected at tomorrow's Temple-Wake Forest men's game at the Liacouras, and may do a stint as
color commentator for ESPN.
All dressed up and...
The plug's been pulled on a $150-a-head party scheduled for last night at the former Real World
house in Old City.
The invitation, seeking out 250 "rich and ravishing" "socialites," promised "unlimited cocktails, 10
rooms, 8 spy cams, 7 beds, 2 hot tubs, 1 confessional... 1 real wild evening."
Amir Vana, an organizer, said Friday that the city Department of Licenses and Inspections told
him the building was not zoned for the moneymaking venture. And here we thought the boom was
lowered because of the spy cams.

Annapolis, the Disney flick entering its last week of production here, shot its final boxing match on
Friday at the Blue Horizon on North Broad Street. One hundred Firstrust Bank customers and
employees got to play extras. You might say it's a dividend. Firstrust is the official bank and
corporate sponsor of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.
Radio activity
Tom Joyner's last morning show for WDAS-FM (105.3) aired Wednesday, as he'll be moving to
WRNB-FM (107.9) starting Dec. 20. WDAS, meanwhile, intends to announce its new morning show
at 10 a.m. tomorrow; the station will say only that the host or hosts will be local. The name
Carter & Sanborn, as in the former Power 99 morning duo, has been bandied about. Brian
Carter now works for XM satellite radio. "Dave Sanborn" is Bill Simpson, nighttime host on
WJJZ-FM (106.1), a WDAS sister station.
Jerry Lee, co-owner of WBEB-FM (101.1), has been confirmed by the Senate for a four-year
term on the National Board for Education Sciences, which reviews and approves research initiatives
designed by the Institute of Education Sciences.
A reader poll in Friday Morning Quarterback, the national radio trade mag based in Cherry Hill,
named WYSP-FM (94.1) as the year's top rock station and the Preston & Steve show on WPLY-FM
(100.3) as the top modern-rock morning show.

Independence Mall-based AEI Digital, which specializes in virtual reality, will be featured on the
History Channel's Tactical to Practical show (11 p.m. tomorrow). AEI's way-cool Web site offers
neat VR visuals of Citizens Bank Park, the National Constitution Center, and other edifices
(www.aeidigital.com).
Happy new yizzle: Grammy nominee Snoop Dogg just booked a Jan. 2 concert date at Resorts'
Superstar Theater in Atlantic City (8 p.m.), with tickets at $75 and $100.
Jennifer Weiner, Inquirer alumna and author of Philly-set books Good in Bed, In Her Shoes
(which is bound for the big screen), and Little Earthquakes, won the annual gold medal last week
from the Philadelphia Public Relations Association. On her Internet blog, Weiner says: "The thing I
love best about Philadelphia these days is that people here seem, for the most part, really happy
and excited about a local girl making good, and about seeing our town between covers, and on the
big screen."
Pretty in pink
Comcast SportsNet's Matt Yallof is promising to wear a pink dress and bonnet in the stands at
Washington's FedEx Field during today's Eagles-Redskins game. Eagles defensive end Hugh
Douglas believes that Yallof has been shortchanging him on SportsNet's "Earn Your Wings"
segment, in which players answer trivia questions. Douglas will be cued to watch the certain public
humiliation, which Yallof hopes will get him back in Douglas' good graces.
