TW SS 4.6 Sunday School Edition 4.6 … The Life of Our Family Let’s look in the Bible to hear more about how the Israelites celebrated God’s abundant blessings during the Feast of Tabernacles. Read Leviticus 23:41–43 together. Suggest that when children hear the word “celebrate,” they can say “Yay!” together, and that the word “shelter” is another word for “tents.” The children can touch their fingers together above their heads like the shape of a shelter or tent when they hear “shelter.” • During the Feast of Tabernacles, God’s people lived in temporary shelters—or tents—for seven days to remember leaving Egypt and living in the desert. What do you remember about that part of The Big God Story? Whom did God choose to lead His people? Where were the people going? What are some things God provided for His people while they were in the desert? Allow the children and parents to answer aloud. • The Israelites celebrated God’s care for them and His abundant blessings. What does abundant mean? Allow answers. Good thoughts! Abundant means lots and lots. God gives us lots of good gifts and knows just what we need. Sometimes God provides for our physical needs like food or clothes, but He also provides for us spiritually. He gave us the blessing of Jesus, His Son, who died for our sins. • How have you experienced God’s blessing in your family? Leaders and parents can model by sharing stories from their own lives about times God has blessed them and provided for them.
