All scholarships available through the Hale Area Education Foundation have the following requirements:




A completed application with two letters of recommendation from non-relatives
Most recent copy of Applicant’s high school transcript
Attached forms listing all high school co-curricular activities, clubs, community service, work
experience, awards and recognitions.
Letter stating Applicant’s post-secondary and career goals and why Applicant should be
considered for a scholarship.
Scholarships Available:
Hale Area Education Foundation Scholarship
Open to all Hale High School graduating seniors who are planning on furthering their education at a
college, community college or trade school. Scholarships will vary in number and monetary value.
Scholarships will be awarded in spring of 2015 and will be paid after successful completion of first
semester/term and enrollment for the next semester/term.
Rosetta Stone Scholarship
The Rosetta Stone Scholarship is generously funded by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Meagher in memory of their
granddaughter.
“Rosetta is a small town in northern Egypt. A piece of stone found there had a story written on it in 3 languages
enabling us to decipher the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Our granddaughter was named Rosetta Stone (2001-2004).
This scholarship is in memory of her.
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage a graduating student to get more education/training in a
community college or trade school. The award is based on good character, involvement in high school, and
community organizations, work experience, future plans, financial need, and a high school GPA of 2.4+.
If you receive and accept this scholarship, you also pledge to work hard at understanding each course, and plan
to help someone else when you can. (“Pass it Along” Theory).”
Mike and Judy Meagher
Open to all Hale High School graduating seniors who are planning on furthering their education at a
community college or trade school. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.4.
There will be two scholarships available at $1,800.00 each.
Scholarships will be awarded in spring of 2014 and will be paid after successful completion and
enrollment for the next of each semester/term for 3 consecutive semester/terms in the amount of $500, $600 and
$700 for a total of $1,800.00.
Beatty Bernard Scholarship
The Beatty Bernard Scholarship is privately funded in the amount of $5,000 per year. Scholarships are in
memory of Beatty Bernard who started the Hale Area Education Foundation in 1994. She was unable to attend
college herself but was passionate about helping young people obtain a higher education. Beatty also set goals
to improve herself, to help the people around her, and to improve her community. The Beatty Bernard
Scholarship recipients reflect these values.
 $8,025 available
 $1,000 minimum scholarship/$2,500 maximum scholarship per person
 Hale High School Graduate
Scholarship will be payable to the college/university for student upon receipt of:
(1) Copy of first semester grades showing GPA of 3.0 or higher
(2) Proof of enrollment for the next semester
(3) Address of college/university.
Recipient is responsible for submitting documents required to the HAEF.
Scholarship must be used the following school year after graduating from Hale High School
unless HAEF Board approves written request for extension. Request must be made by January
1st following graduation from Hale High School.
Failure to collect your scholarship by September 1st of the following year after graduating from
Hale High School will result in scholarship reverting back to the HAEF/Beatty Bernard
Scholarship Fund.
