7TH GRADE ART POWER STANDARDS
­
Students will learn a variety of “tricks of the trade” for improving their drawing skills
(proportion).
­
Students will demonstrate a thorough understanding of color theory (primaries,
secondaries, intermediates, neutrals, complementary colors, analogous colors,
monochromatic colors, tints, shades, warm colors, cool colors). They will explore, learn,
and TEACH basic color theory.
­
Students will create a painting of their choice painted in the style of Native American
Ojibwe artist Frank Big Bear.
­
Students will apply basic clay construction skills toward building a basic coil pot.
­
Students will continue to practice the basics of throwing pottery on the pottery wheel.
­
Students will maintain proper care of all art tools in use on a daily basis.
­
Students will explore, design, and construct a bust of a human head in paper mâché.
7THGRADE BAND POWER STANDARDS
-
I can sit in performance posture, breathe band style (full breath) and produce a full sound
on my instrument.
I can perform with written articulations: staccato, legato, accent, tenuto, slurs, ties.
I will practice at home 3-5 times per week, 20-25 minutes each time.
I can play music alone and with others.
I can learn to change my interpretation of music based on the advice of others.
I can play the Chromatic, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, and F scales and arpeggios, one octave, quarter
note=120: first in quarter note pattern, then in 8th note pattern. Woodwinds begin 2
octaves.
I can read key signature for the scales listed above, and perform in the correct key.
I can read, perform, and write the notes on the staff and up to two ledger lines for my clef.
I can count, play and write whole, half, quarter, eighth, dotted rhythms, and 16th notes and
rests.
I can understand and apply elements of music including melody, harmony, texture, unison,
divisi, and form.
I can play with style, phrasing, and balance.
I can play with the following dynamics: ff,f,mf,mp,p,pp,sfz, crescendo and decrescendo.
I can play in 4/4, 2/4, ¾, cut time, and slow 6/8.
I can change meters within a piece of music.
I can perform music of different styles on a concert.
Percussion: In addition to Paradiddle, Single Stroke Roll, Multiple Bounce Roll, Flam, Double
Stroke Open Roll, 9 Stroke Roll, and 17 Stroke Roll, I will learn the following rudiments: Drag,
5 Stroke Roll, Flam Accent, Flam Paradiddle.
7TH GRADE CHOIR POWER STANDARDS
