While Parker was already grown when her mother moved into her new home, she was still able to see the profound effect it had on her family’s lives. Parker began working on the Women Build site of the Memorial House last October after happening upon the site by chance. “I was walking by [the site] one day, and I decided I would stop by and help out. I always said I would volunteer on a house so I grabbed at this chance,” Parker said. The Memorial House, named so because the funding came from a Gainesville family in memory of a loved one who strongly believed in Habitat’s mission, marks the seventh house built by Alachua Women Build and the 113th house built by Alachua Habitat. Parker is known on site as an extremely dedicated and hard worker who is always eager to lend a help- “He his decided to make wish.
