Dear Students, Parents and Friends,
Yesterday was our annual Education Week Open Day. Lots of parents and visitors came along to the school in the
morning and evening. Students accompanied their families around the school following the mystery trail that uncovered
the message for Education Week; ‘Healthy Body Healthy Mind’. Our school was abuzz with excitement and interest as
everyone enjoyed looking at the displays. Students were eager to talk about their work and demonstrate to their parents
their knowledge and skills.
The new Digital Coding Room was a highlight of the evening with parents and children using the Beebots and laptops to
explore coding patterns and sequences. The Beebots were even used by the preschool students who delighted in the
opportunity to make the ‘Bee’ run along the pathways. Our ICT leaders have been working on the programming required
to design a complicated game. They were able to share this development with visitors and explain their work.
All the classrooms were open in the evening session to provide time for parents to come along and view their child’s
learning environment. Students were able to take time to show their parents their workbooks and explain the learning they
had completed.
At the end of the evening session the LOTE Bella Lingua group presented a song using the Italian language. This song
was chosen by Signorina Nanos. The Bella Lingua group have been learning the song throughout this semester. The
lyrics were quite complex. Our Bella Lingua group presented this song with meaning and enthusiasm. Well done to them
all.
After the LOTE group our School Choir sang three very entertaining songs. Each song was bright and enthusiastically
presented with lots of movement! Miss Chloe Britton, our Music teacher, has been training the choir this year. The work
done on learning how to ‘warm up’ their vocal chords and maintaining pitch was evident as the students presented these
songs. We all thoroughly enjoyed listening and watching the choir in action! Well done to all the choir students and Miss
Britton.
A special day such as Open Day highlights the work our school does with our students. The opportunity to come into the
school and share with the students is supported by our teaching staff. The work they do prior to and throughout the day
ensures that everyone has a great time as well as being able to view student work. All the teachers in the school stayed
back to attend the evening session and they enjoyed the chance to talk with parents and students. Thank you to all the
teachers for your work and time in the interest of our students.
Our swimming program continues next Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has their swimming gear with
them on Tuesday.
