Lansing Christian School Friday, September 9th, 2016 KINDERGARTEN NEWS We have had a great second week of school! The students are settling into our rules and routines and are making new friends. I am so happy to have each of them in my class this year! Here are some highlights from this week: Social Studies: Bible: We learned about the Christian Approach to Problem Solving Program (CAPS Program). When a problem arises student should: 1. Show the “Stop Sign” with his/her hand and say: “Please stop, I don’t like what you are doing!” 2. Move or walk away. 3. Tell the teacher or another adult about the problem. 4. Think about WWJD- “What would Jesus do?” “EMERGENCY,” means someone is hurt, is going to hurt someone, or is sick. For EMERGENCIES go straight to the teacher. Practiced asking, “Will you be my friend?,” “Can I play with you?” Practiced saying, “I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?” Memory verse: Mark 16:15 Phonics/Language Arts: Reviewed Zoo-Phonics letter names and motions A-Z Song: “Come Meet Us at the Zoo” Students made “All About Me” Books and read them aloud for the class Did a piece of writing about their favorite type of weather Math: Introduced number and counting routines Built number concept of 1-5 with number cards and counting mats.
