PGP Managed Installation Procedures

Installing PGP Encryption Desktop
Before installation please ensure a few things.

If a Second hard drive is installed
• Boot.ini and system.ini need to be on the main drive, pgp will not work properly if they
are split.
Ensure the user has proper backup strategy and has a recent backup of their system.
Ensure Bitlocker is not enabled on the system.
Installing PGP

Download software from security website. https://www.fau.edu/security/fde.php
Install proper version based on 32/64 bit
Restart system.
After reboot you will be prompted with the following notification:
Choose "Always Allow for This Site"
Enter your FAUNetID credentials to enroll to the PGP server
Note: you do not have to enter your FAU domain information.
Next you will be asked to enter your passphrase again to sign your organizational key. The key is
used for PGP messaging, File Share encryption. This password is not linked to you FAUNetID.
There should now be a tray icon in your taskbar, double click the icon (a lock)

Go to PGP disk or partition

Click on New Passphrase User
Click Use Windows Password
o
Proceed with passphrase authentication only
o
Enter your FAU password
o
Click Encrypt on your main C drive to start encryption process.
