Progress at the NPT Review Conference will not come easily and require that joint efforts of all Parties to
the Treaty will be aided by other initiatives. This informal discussion event will provide an opportunity for a
frank exchange between the Bundestag’s leading parliamentarians on nuclear disarmament – representatives
of government as well as opposition parliamentary groups – and disarmament experts from international civil
society organizations. They will be able to address a number of key challenges for nuclear disarmament and
Germany’s potential role towards that end.
The discussion will be opened by Ambassador Susanne Baumann, Deputy Federal Commissioner for
Disarmament, Arms control and nonproliferation.
The delegation is led by Mr. Robert Hochbaum (Member of the German Parliament, CDU/CSUChristian Democratic Union, Chair of the Subcommittee for Disarmament Affairs). He will be
accompanied by the following members of the German Parliament:

Disarmament Affairs)
Dr. Katja Leikert (CDU/CSU- Christian Democratic Union)
