AMIS
Amis is a French word meaning “friends.”
AMIS, as an acronym, means Atlanta Ministry with International Students,
and its aim is to connect international students with US “host families” and
individuals to promote meaningful personal relationships during their stay in
the U.S. AMIS strives to foster a better understanding and appreciation for each other’s cultures,
philosophies and religions.
AMIS hosts several free events and concerts each year, including a homestay program during US
holidays. For many, this is a meaningful option to being alone if unable to travel home to visit.
AMIS is non-denominational and open to all international students in metro Atlanta. There are more
than 12,000 international students and scholars in the Atlanta area.
