The vacuum inside each tube provides perfect insulation and suppresses heat loss by protecting the system from outside influences, such as cold, wet or windy weather, which results in superior performance all year round. Thermomax offer 2 models of vacuum tube collectors: HP400 - Heat Pipe Collectors DF100 - Direct Flow Collectors UNIQUE Temperature Limitation Safety Device HP400 collectors contain a unique patented temperature limitation device for system protection. le for RHI funding • MCS approved - eligib each is custom-designed for • The complete package specific application ed Installer Network • Kingspan Solar Accredit duct design • UK manufacture & pro te ance guarantee on flat pla • 10-year panel perform ntee cuum tubes (tube guara panels and 5 years on va an en installed by a Kingsp extended to 20 years wh taller) Solar Accredited MCS Ins ort, by on-site service supp • All guarantees backed our including parts and lab uplings supplied as ‘First’ • Pipework, seals and co e aid installation and reduc and ‘Second’ Fix Kits to on-site time • Quick and easy installation due to ‘plug & play’ design • Designed for flexible building integration: can be installed on sloping roofs, flat roofs or façades – individual tubes can be angled up to 15° to achieve best performance for building orientation • Faster payback • Rapid conductivity and transfer of energy into heat • Patented snap disk technology providing a thermal shut-off provides unrivalled levels of safety and significantly reduces risk of system overheating (stagnating) • Hermetic seal – fusion between the internal copper tube and the glass also ensures superior vacuum in the tube, over a longer period of time • Ultra-sonic weld between absorber plate and tube ensures most efficient heat transfer • Flexible neck for ease and speed of installation • Hail impact resistance – the robust tube construction provides protection from adverse weather conditions • High quality glass - soda lime glass provides long life and high transmissibility • Up to 30% more effective than flat plate collectors • Average 25-year lifespan • Up to 20 years warranty when fitted by a Kingspan Solar Accredited Installer • MCS approved Easy Installation The unique ‘plug and play’ design of Thermomax solar collectors makes installation quick and easy. There is no need for heavy lifting equipment as tubes can be carried onto the roof individually. The collector is fixed to the roof by easy-fit brackets, which are simply fixed to the rafter. The device is open and heat transfer occurs until the condenser reaches 95ºC Snap disks operate and close the device, stopping heat transfer into condenser Device re-opens as temperature falls below 95ºC, reactivating heat transfer Simple Steps to Solar Hot Water Solar Collector Cylinder You need to decide where your solar collector will be positioned on your house. To get the best efficiency, the collector should be installed facing due south at an angle of 30-40°. Vacuum tubes can be rotated to help compensate for less than perfect roof angles in order to maximize energy absorption. A twin coil hot water storage tank enables energy input from the central heating system to the top half of the tank and energy input from solar system to the bottom half of the tank. We recommend a stainless steel unit for use in a pressurised system and copper for use in an open vented system. The Solar Panel Solar Collector size Domestic Hot Water It is important that the solar hot water system is sized correctly in relation to the number of occupants in your house to maximize efficiency. There are two typical collector sizes for homes – a 2m² collector for a home with one or two adults or a 3m² collector for one with three to five adults. Condensing System Boiler Twin Coil Solar Cylinder HP400 - Heat Pipe Collectors Thermomax Tubes HP400 is a ‘Dry System’ and is recommended for domestic use and perfect for when the ideal installation position on the building is achievable. They have a unique temperature limitation device that protects the system from high temperature. • Dry system for ease of installation and maintenance • Highly efficient heat transfer • Temperature limitation safety feature - memory spring to limit temperature to 95˚C 30% up to more effective than traditional flat plate panels DF100 - Direct Flow Collectors The chart below illustratess th the e ssuperior uperior performance of the Thermomax vacuum tubes vs a typical flat plate installation. This versatile product provides the perfect solution when the ideal position is not available. It’s simple and easy to install and costeffective. DF100 Direct Flow Collectors can be installed on façades and flat roofs both horizontally and vertically. By taking advantage of the knowledge in technology of Kingspan Solar you will be saving the use of fossil fuels which in turn helps the environment by creating less carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that may pollute the atmosphere. Collector contribution (%) 90 The installation of a Kingspan Solar system is designed to supply up to 70% of free hot water throughout the year. In the summer months it is estimated that at least 95% of all hot water is free. Therefore the boiler will be switched off, which means less contamination of the atmosphere from the emission of flue gases and lower energy bills. 80 70 60 50 40 30 20 10 Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov In comparison to the high costs of other energy sources, solar energy provides a saving of up to 70% in hot water heating, or 30% of the total heating and hot water costs in a year. Solar Flat Plate Panel Glass Aluminium EPDM Copper Aluminum Rockwool Dec Brass These panels deliver a cost-effective solution both in domestic and commercial applications and provide excellent levels of efficiency and performance. Kingspan n Solar recommend d the use of this high quality kit which adds to the integrity e integr grity ity and continuity of the overall system system. Solar Controller The Solar controller has an integrated easy to read display screen that allows access to information on the performance of your solar hot water system. Our family of Solar cylinders have been designed specifically with Solar applications in mind. • Fully approved product range • Mains Pressure - Powerful showers • High Flow Rates - Baths fill very quickly • Fast Reheat - Ideal for multiple bathrooms • Very Well Insulated - Hot water quickly available • Low heat loss - Economical to run • Low Maintenance - No hidden costs • 25-Year Fully Transferable Guarantee - Peace of mind Catchment Tanks Solar Fluid Catchment tank is a fit for purpose vessel, which allows for safe collection of the solar fluid discharge (Glycol) in a quick and tidy manner for reuse later. It is manufactured from polyethylene (PE) for strength and durability and withstands temperatures up to 160°C. Expansion & Cooling Vessels The vessels ensure the safe and reliable operation of solar thermal systems by maintaining a stable system pressure over the wide range of temperatures experienced by these systems. The cooling vessel provides a buffer volume of cool liquid to prevent the hot fluid from damaging the expansion vessel membrane. Glycol High spec Glycol, specially formulated for modern solar systems. Pre-mixed with distilled water, saving both time and complication on site. This can then be used in conjunction with the optional filling station to provide a simple commissioning process. The Glycol acts as an antifreeze and has the added benefit of having corrosion inhibiting additives built in. First Fix Kit Second Fix Kit First fix kits contain n all the necessary components to complete the roof mounted plumbing, g ready for pressure testing. sting. They include all couplings, seals, 2 x 2m lengths of pre-insulated flexible stainless steel pipework and roof solar sensor (requires no specialist tools). The 1st and 2nd fix kits are easily formed by hand and being double annealed, they retain their shape when bent or straightened Pipework operates from –50ºC to + 200ºC. Second fix kits contain all components to complete the plumbing of the solar system by connecting the hot water cylinder and pumping station to the previously installed roof mounted plumbing. They include all couplings, seals and 20m of pre-insulated flexible pipework. The 1st and 2nd fix kits are easily formed by hand and being double annealed, they retain their shape when bent or straightenedPipework operates from –50ºC to + 200ºC.
