CREATE AN ABC AUTOBIOGRAPHY BOOK OF THE SUBJECT YOU KNOW THE BEST---YOU!!!
1. Select a word or phrase to coordinate with each of the 26 letter of the alphabet. The word or phrase must express
something important about you or in your life: a skill, an event, person, favorite item, or description. Your word or
phrase must be appropriate and will be approved by me.
EX
A—athlete
B—Broadway
Word or phrase requirements—No more than 2 of any type of category may be used. For example, you may
only have 2 singers/bands listed. You may have 2 movie/TV show listed. You may use only 2 people/names.
There must be 2 phrases within your 26 letters. A phrase is easy to make by starting with an –ing word and a
prepositional phrase for example, fishing with grandpa, skating in the winter, or singing at church.
NOTE—a grade will be taken for the list of 26 words or phrases on
Monday, January 12th. This deadline is worth 26 points.
2. Write a paragraph explanation with a minimum of 6 sentences that covers approximately ½ a piece of paper for EACH
of your 26 words or phrases. Your sentences will explain the importance of the word or phrase to you/your life. You
must use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization. This must fit together like a paragraph and use
multiple sentence patterns. NO WEASEL WORDS!!!!! Several days have been set aside for rough drafts of paragraphs to
be written during class time with daily goals. During this time paragraphs may be proofread by teacher or peer to check
for weasel words.
Example—Throughout my teenage years, I spent countless hours participating in various sports. I played
basketball and softball, and I ran track and cross-country. The hours spent in practice or traveling to games increased
my bond to teammates and friends. Dedication, the foundation of athletics served me greatly during my life, and I credit
athletics that taught me to “stick with it” no matter what challenge I may face. I learned the importance of teamwork,
which has benefited me. Also, I received multiple awards for my devotion to athletics including the “Class of 2000 Most
Athletic Female” award.
NOTE—There are several deadlines for progress grades on rough drafts. PLEASE SEE CALENDAR FOR DETAILS. Point values vary
3. The rough drafts will be re-written making grammar correction into a final copy in the correct format and
requirements for the page.

4. After all the rough drafts are written and while working on final copies, locate a photo or a picture to illustrate each of
your 26 words or phrases. This needs to be accomplished on your own time—not during study hall (SH teachers will be
notified that computers are not needed for this project). I will provide 2 class days to copy and paste pictures needed
from the Internet; however, to take advantage of these days, ALL final copies must be completed. Your photos will be
glued to a piece of paper, so make sure you check with your parents before taking photos from home.
5. Once final pages are complete, you will construct your ABC book using each of your 26 words or phrases with their
explanations and pictures. Your book MUST have 26 pages—one for each letter of the alphabet. These pages will be
hole-punched and arranged alphabetically into a 3-prong folder.
6. Your ABC Autobiography will have a cover page that includes a creative illustration, your name—first and last, and the
words ABC autobiography
