Start with Career Services and work with a counselor to: Create a resume and cover letter and have them critiqued by a career counselor Find out how to conduct an internship search Work on interviewing skills It is recommended that these tasks be accomplished during your first two years at CUA Finding an Internship How Do I Find an Internship? Students may find internships in a number of ways: Through independent research By consulting faculty members who do research in a field they are interested in By consulting with a Career Services Counselor and accessing Cardinal Connection How Do I Make an Appointment with Career Services? DENNIS COYLE DEPARTMENT OF POLITICS [email protected] M.A. in Politics Offers concentrations in Political Theory, World Politics, and American Government Small class sizes – generally under ten students Program is designed to be completed in two years, but students with prior graduate coursework, or who take a more ambitious course load can often meet the program requirements in a year and a half A limited number of half-tuition merit scholarships are available on a competitive basis for highly qualified students Politics M.A. on Capitol Hill Programs M.A. in International Affairs (MAIA) A unique, off- campus program at the Hall of States near Union Station Designed for working professionals Graduate Certificate in International Affairs Studies option as well Originally designed over three decades ago to provide advanced degree educational support to active duty military in the National Capital Region, the program now provides this support to active and reserve members of all the armed services and civilians employed by federal and local government agencies as well as private businesses and non-profit organizations. M.A. in Congressional and Presidential Studies (CAPS) Balancing academic analyses and practical experience, the curriculum meets the career and informational needs of congressional staff, interest group representatives, journalists, Executive branch employees, diplomatic staff and others interested in the political and policy processes of the United States government. Graduate Certificate in Congressional and Presidential Studies option as well Joint M.A./J.D. The Department of Politics, in cooperation with the Columbus School of Law, offers a joint J.D./M.A. program. This program allows students to pursue the J.D. and politics M.A. degrees concurrently and to finish both programs more quickly than if each degree were pursued independently. In this program, students may apply nine semester credits earned in the law school toward the politics M.A. degree and may apply 12 semester credits earned in the politics M.A. program toward the J.D. degree.
