Whittle-le-Woods Church of England Primary School Love, Learn, Care, Share http://whittleprimary.com SCHOOL NEWSLETTER NO 22 DATE: Friday 17th March 2017 Love, Learn, Share, Care - We are God’s children doing God’s work Our Christian Value for this half term is Forgiveness The 12 March was Commonwealth Day. It is the celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations held on the second Monday in March. Commonwealth Day is an opportunity for individuals, communities and organisations to promote values of peace, democracy and equality and to celebrate the association’s rich diversity. Today Lord, we pray for the Queen and all the people who are part of the Commonwealth. We are people who are a mixture of rich and poor and share common values within the diversity of our countries and cultures. This week we pray particularly for our friends in all the Diocesan family of schools in the Preston District Today’s Bible Verse th Colossians 1:13-14 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Reports You should have received your child’s report yesterday. Staff have analysed last year’s Y6 and Y2 SATs results for our children last year, tracking pupil attainment back through the school. This has given us indications of children’s attainment measures up to the new expected standard across all year groups. These are projections and have been given to you now so that if pupils need to step up their efforts at home, in addition to all the extra interventions that we are providing in school, you have been made aware. Should you wish to discuss interventions with staff, they keep detailed records of all that we provide and they will happily share these with you. Parents Evening Booking You should have received a booking form for parents evening. Please return this as soon as possible. If you have not been given a parent’s evening letter, please call into the office or ring and we will ensure you get one. Thanks Healthy Snacks We politely ask parents to ensure that children are given healthy snacks at playtime. There have been a growing number of occasions when children have come to school with sweets, chocolate biscuits and sugary items for playtime snack. Children are only allowed to have healthy items at these times. We also do not allow lolly pops or large boiled sweets at any time as they are a choking hazard. We also ask that parents ensure lunch boxes provide children with a healthy balanced meal in the middle of the day. Thank you. On-line School Survey Within this section of the newsletter, you will find a link to our school website. This link will take you to an online survey that we would like as many parents to complete as possible. Please ensure that the name of the person completing the survey is included. Both parents are able to complete the survey form if they wish. A code has been sent via Parent Mail text. Please use this code as it will identify you as a parent of the school and therefore your survey form will be processed. Thank you. https://whittleprimary.com/parentsurvey/ If you wish to complete the survey via Facebook the link to use is given below https://blippit-social.fbapp.io/whittle-primary-parent-questionnaire Whittle-le-Woods Church of England Primary School Love, Learn, Care, Share http://whittleprimary.com Term dates for your information Tue 21 Mar FS and KS1 Holi theme Day- bring old clothes please for a messy activity outside if weather ok.
