CourseOverview:
Third generation osteopathic physician, Dr. Jerry Dickey spent 45 years going
through all the old texts by Andrew Taylor Still's faculty and early students (in particular
Hazzard, McConnell, Ashmore, Hulett and others) trying to get to the bottom of how Dr.
Still treated. The result is a course, which teaches Still's evolution in terms of treatment
techniques.
The course will focus on a technique type Dr. Still called 'Exaggeration of the
Lesion', which he developed in the 1880s and which was the type of technique upon
which the osteopathic profession was built. Students will learn to pair this type of
technique with one of three activating forces: articulatory, bounce against the barrier,
and indirect.
The key to the success of the course lies with the low student to table trainer
ratio (10:1). Table trainers work hands-on with students so that they know the feel of
the techniques, which allows students to get results the very next day in their clinical
practice. Students will be shown techniques for the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, ribs,
pelvis and extremities. This is the ultimate course on the lost techniques of A. T. Still.
