What is a Small Group?

What is a Small Group?
Simply put, it is a group of individuals who get together on a
regular basis for a specific reason. Small groups can be topicbased, activity-based, and even social in nature. Small groups
bring together people from all walks of life who share common
interests or goals. Using these common interests, we are more
able to mesh as a group. Groups are arranged into semesters
to make it easier to get involved.
Why should I get involved?
I Corinthians 12:12 says, “Just as a body, though one, has many
parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”
As a church, God has created us to be interconnected. As our
church continues to grow, it becomes increasingly difficult to
connect with one another. Our facility and our busy lives no
longer allow for all-church functions. Small Groups fill that need
by allowing everyone who calls Pendleton First home to connect
with one another and grow together in Christ.
How do I sign up?
Signing up for a Small Group is quick, easy, and simple. You
can sign up by filling out the Registration Card or by visiting
our website— pendletonfirst.com/groups—and filling out a
quick web form. Your group Facilitator will then contact you
with the meeting place and more information.
Kids?
Groups marked “bring your kids” means that the group will
involve your kids. For All other groups you will need to
find child care.

A letter from our Pastors
Dear Church Family,
As we continue to grow together,
the need and desire for
fellowship, discipleship, and a
sense of belonging becomes of
upmost importance to all of us.
I cannot imagine a more effective
way to accomplish this than
through small groups. Over the past year, small groups have proven
to be a tool that God has used, and continues to use, to bring people
closer together, to provide fun and fellowship, to teach and to
disciple, and to provide safe places to grow and to learn together.
As we walk through each day of our increasingly busy lives, small
groups provides us a way to stay connected as a church family so we
can continue to grow together.
I want to encourage us all to take full advantage of small groups.
Don’t wait - sign up today!
We love you all!
Pastor Phil and Maria

Group Coordinators
Thank you for taking the time to look through the
Groups booklet! In it you'll find a variety of interesting
and engaging Groups for you to choose from. Whether
you're searching for a deeper understanding of God's
Word, or looking to meet new friends there's a
Group for you!
As our church continues to grow, we firmly believe that Groups are going to be the
glue that holds us together as a family. If you come from a large family, this is
something you're already familiar with. There are certain family members you spend
more time with because you have more in common - it's human nature.
So, through the efforts of Groups, our hope is that you'll find more people in our
church that you have more in common with - and in doing so you'll grow together in
Christ as you grow closer as friends.
If you have any questions or aren't sure which group is right for you, don't hesitate to
stop either of us or to send us an e-mail at [email protected]
We look forward to growing together with you!
Your Group Coordinators,
Mike & Becky Derrickson

with it? You’re not along in your struggles! This study
is a light-hearted but powerful tool to help you to make

For Men
Honor Bound
As men, reaching out to other men for
encouragement and accountability
doesn’t come easy. But it is clear in
scripture that this is exactly what we’re called to do. Proverbs
27:17 tells us that “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the
countenance of his friend. “
We’ll meet together to pray, connect, worship & dive into God’s
word together - as men.
Sometimes you just need to get out of the
house and hang out with other guys. Not to
go to a meeting or to some function that
requires you to DO anything. Just a night to
have fun and goof off with other men.
Join us one Friday a month as we hang out, eat pizza, and play
games. Don’t let the women have ALL the fun - let’s show ‘em how
it’s done! Food and Beverages provided. It couldn’t get any better!
If you’re done with your youth group years,
but haven’t celebrated your 30th birthday
yet, this is the group for you.
We’ll meet to hang out, have fun, eat
snacks, and grow together in our walk with
the Lord.
This isn’t a Bible Study, but we’ll discuss the Bible and principles
of Christian living as we grow together as friends. You’ll get to
know other people your age and realize that you’re all in this
together.

As a parent, your head and heart are
probably full of questions. We’ve all been there. Questions of all
kinds. Like “Why does my child do THAT?” or “Why does my teen
hate me?” Or maybe, “Am I the only parent who is dealing with
this kind of behavior?”
Let’s be real...none of us are experts. We’ll join together for
support and conversations on raising children. We’ll share
experiences & helpful tips that have worked. We’ll offer help,
comfort, prayer...and pie.

sacrifice we make is our social life.
Now it’s “Our Time.” Join us as we experience great times
together with other adults in our church family. We meet once a
