INFORMATION
The Congregational Matching Grant Program
provides an opportunity for churches to
financially support those from their
congregation who would like to attend
Wisconsin Lutheran College. Due to federal
and state tax regulations, donations to the
church may not be directed to any specific
student. All donations must be given to the
congregation’s WLC matching program
in general and awarded equally by the
congregation among the qualified students
from the congregation. The church should
encourage its members to honor this
restriction.
The Congregational Matching Grant Program
is available exclusively to students enrolled
full-time in WLC’s traditional undergraduate
program. Students enrolling in the adult
education or graduate program are not eligible.
WLC may adjust a student’s award amount if
receipt of the grant jeopardizes the student’s
eligibility for government or other forms of
assistance.

MISSION & PURPOSE OF PROGRAM
2017-2018 QUALIFICATIONS
Wisconsin Lutheran College is a Lutheran liberal
arts college. The college is committed to providing
quality teaching, scholarship, and service that are
rooted in Holy Scripture; promoting the spiritual
growth of students, faculty, and staff; and preparing
students for lives of Christian leadership.
Any admitted, traditional, full-time,
undergraduate student at Wisconsin Lutheran
College may participate in the Congregational
Matching Grant Program. The student does not
need to qualify for federal or state assistance in
order to receive this matching grant.
Wisconsin Lutheran College is offering the
Congregational Matching Grant Program so that a
church can encourage and support students from
its congregation who want to attend WLC. In the
same way a church supports mission work, this
program provides financial help for those members
who want to attend a Christian college and develop
servant leadership skills as well as receive an
excellent academic education.
PROCESS
In partnering with churches and their families,
Wisconsin Lutheran College shows its commitment
to serving students who want to pursue academics
and secular careers and lead lives of Christian
service.
RANGE OF GRANT AMOUNT
When a congregation decides to establish a
Congregational Matching Grant Program to support
one of its members attending WLC, the college
will match up to $1,000 of the church’s grant. The
minimum grant amount to qualify for the program
is $250. Students must reapply for the
Congregational Matching Grant Program
each year.
The student should complete the Student
Section Application Form panel of this brochure
and submit the entire form to his or her church
for consideration. The church must then
determine its desire and ability to assist the
student through this Congregational Matching
Grant Program. Once the church approves
the request for grant support, the appropriate
church official should complete the Church
Section Application Form and send it to the
WLC Financial Aid Office prior to April 1 in order
to guarantee matching funding for the student
during the following academic year.
Applications received after April 1 will be
awarded depending upon availability of funding.
The church must make the check or money
order payable to WLC with the student’s name
entered on the memo line. The church may send
the check in with this application form or send
the payment to the WLC Financial Aid Office
by August 15. WLC will apply one-half of the
matching award to each semester’s charges.
