Library Books
Can we please ask that any year 6 children who still
have any library books at home, can they please return
them to the school library.
Pick Up Time 1
Please can I remind parents about behaving well whilst
on school grounds. Loud conversations taking place
outside classroom doors can often be heard by
children at the end of the school day and the topic of
conversation can sometimes not be suitable for
children’s ears. In addition some very bad words have
been overhead by the children (and what’s overheard
from adults is often repeated by children)
Paulsgrove and Wymering Carnival Time
The Victory Primary School are proud to be taking part
in the carnival parade this Saturday (25th June). We will
start from King Richard School at 10:15am (approx.)
then walk the route shown below. We finish on the
Carnival Green (opposite Allaway Ave shops). So,
please come out and cheer us on!
Breakfast Club
From September the breakfast club will no longer be
free. This is for financial reasons. As a result of
government cutbacks we have to reduce spending
by 10% over the length of parliament.
From next term the cost of breakfast club will be £1
a day making it, we believe, the equal cheapest in
Portsmouth. Breakfast club will still be heavily
subsidised by school funds so that it can remain
affordable for families.
We recognise that this may cause some hardship
particularly for larger families and so we will be
reducing the cost to 50p a day for second children.
Confidentiality
Please do not put our lunchtime supervisors in a
difficult position by asking them for school
information. They are under strict instructions to
follow confidentiality rules, so please do not ask
them for confidential information as a refusal to
answer your question can offend.
Trips
Recently I have had a lot of positive feedback about
the behaviour of our children on trips. In fact on one
occasion we were described by a museum as the
best behaved school they have every had.

Thank you so much to all who have made
Reading Club a success this year. We enjoyed
our last club of this academic year last week
but we look forward to starting the club up
again in September. Thank you to all the older
children who helped out over the year. This is a
good opportunity to say an extra special thank
you to Harvey Newman for his brilliant help
from beginning to end. Also a big thank you to
James Musasa for his calm and positive
attitude towards helping the younger children
read.

It has been a brilliant week (apart from the weather)
for the children who have taken part in their sports

determination and had fun. The final results were:

Pickup Time 2
The school day officially ends at 3:15pm (3:20 for
juniors). Schools are permitted to keep children
behind for 10 minutes after school with out telling
parents. We try our hardest to let the children out on
time however, there are occasions when this is not
possible simply because children are children. Things
happen when you are trying to get children ready.
For example:




They drag their feet
They drop things
Problems need addressing
Work needs finishing off
It could be argued that teachers should therefore
simply start getting ready earlier. The problem with
doing this is:


It is not always possible to predict when
delays to routines will happen.
We want to make the most of educational
time and we do not want children sitting
around twiddling their thumbs, waiting for
the end of the day.
Thank you for your understanding
