Commodore’s Column
It has happened once again. One minute it is May and the entire sailing season lays ahead; then, before you know it, it is October and
boats are being removed from the club. The season is short - but
perhaps that adds to how special it is. One reason this past season
seemed to pass so quickly, is because it was fun, exciting, relaxing,
well-organized, and relatively problem -free. And, that doesn’t just
happen. While all our members help to make the season a success, I
would like to mention and thank a few that have gone truly above and
beyond:


Dan Patsos and the Social Committee - every event from a Pier
Party to the Lobster Bake was darn near perfect. Thank you all
and to others who spontaneously jumped in to help out.
Wayne Mellor - Thank you for making sure that our weekly
races, regattas, and Hyde Bay race were well staffed and well
trained. Well done.

Ron Streek - Without motorboats, there are no races. And with
out Ron, their are no motorboats. Thank you, Ron.

Tom Rusk - Tom does too much to list but it includes tracking
our money, signing students up for lessons, preparing our 990
tax return, and on and on. We would be lost without him.

Paul Coughlin and Heidi Jones - Thank you for leading another
successful Glimmerglass and providing good wind.
I became really worried
when my dead-reckoning
put me on top of a hill a
hundred feet high, and
there was no land in
sight!

DON’T FORGET
If you plan to store your
cruiser at the club this
winter, please acquaint
yourself with the Winter
Storage policy, fill out a
Winter Storage application
(available on the website
and hopefully attached to
this email), and provide
payment in full by Fall Dock
Day.
From the SocialShip:
Attention all hands on
Docks! This is your Captain
speaking! Fall Dock Day is
coming up on October 15th,
and we are in need of Galley Slaves. Yes, with all
members expected we will
need to provide a noon
meal. So I am asking for
volunteers to make a stock
pot of soup (any variety), as
well as some bagels and
doughnuts.
(Continued from page one)

Bryn Clark - Bryn has constructed a new race committee shed for us
as his Eagle Scout project to replace our well- worn shed. Thank you.

Bill Cramer and Jim Dulak for doing the heavy lifting in main- taining our
facilities and docks. The club has never looked better.

Dave and Meg Ainsworth for facilitating communications with
and Puffs and Facebook.

Ken Higgins for maintaining our excellent website.

Diane Nash for landscaping - beautiful!

And, of course, our Vice Commodore Butch Weir for keeping me on
task and, in turn, making me look good.

And to all who I should have mentioned bit didn't, I apologize. This is an
exceptional club where so many do so much for the good of us all.
Thank you!
Gary
