PSAT/NMSQT Information
The PSAT/NMSQT test for juniors will be administered at Grayson County College on Wednesday, October 14,
2015. The fee is $15.00. Registration will be held at PHS in September.
The PSAT for sophomores and freshmen will be administered at Grayson County College on Wednesday,
February 24, 2016. The sophomore fee is $15.00 and the freshmen fee is $10.00. Registration will be held at
PHS in December.
FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION
Seniors may apply for financial aid through www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please note that parents will need to file 2015
taxes to qualify for aid. It is highly recommended to do this in early January of 2016.

Test questions are easy and hard mixed, no
penalty for guessing.
Testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes:
English: 45 minutes
Math: 60 minutes
Reading: 35 minutes
Science: 35 minutes
Writing: 30 minutes
Admission Standards:
Open: 16-21
Traditional: 18-24
Selective: 21-26
Highly Selective: 25-36
National average is 21
Test questions accelerate from easy to most
difficult. A fraction of a point will be subtracted for
wrong answers.
Testing time is 3 hours and 45 minutes:
Critical Reading: 70 minutes
Mathematics: 70 minutes
Writing: 60 minutes
One variable (non-scored) section: 25 minutes
Nationally for the class of 2010, average scores
are:
Critical Reading: 501 (200-800)
Mathematics: 516 (200-800)
Writing: 492
