FTHSRevolution2015 The Tennis Court Oath The Tennis Court Oath was pledged on the 17th of June 1789. It was when the third estate was locked out of the Estates General by the first and second estate. The Estates General assembly was called upon to discuss how to fix the national debt and to see how the voting was going to be continued. The left column is the perspective of a peasant, Elizabeth Paume. The right perspective is of a noble, George de Calle. Tax On The Bread Tax On The Bread It was around noon and I was slaving away in the fields. I had been working with my grandfather in this boiling hot weather. It was of course another bad harvest. So much tobacco and corn gone to waist in this horrendous soil. We were all hungry and bread was way to expensive to afford. My grandfather managed to find a corn cob that was about the size of my thumb, we savored the I was eating my supper today, after my afternoon gossip. I had a salad to keep healthy. I also had my servants feed me chocolate, which took way too long because one of them spilled some on my SHIRT! I was so angry and moved on to my second course, the bread!(: I had 2 loaves, not three since the same idiotic servant burnt my third loaf. I might have him fired and executed. amazing cob, and it was the best lunch of the month. We ended up harvesting only about 10 cobs. Unfair Treatment of the 3rd Estate Unfair Treatment of the 3rd Estate On the way to the national assembly my husband got pooped on by a Noble horse. He laughed at him. Then road off as if it was nothing. Those obnoxious noble’s treat us so unfair. Our family gets to bath about two times a week, he’s going to sell for days. I hope he doesn’t get sick!): On the way to the national assembly my horse defected on some guy named Jacques who was sleeping on the street, it was pretty funny. His wife or daughter or something had the nerve to yell at my horses. What a wench///, I’ll send a spy down there to watch her and her family, maybe I can have her imprisoned or even executed. page 1 / 4 FTHSRevolution2015 Debating over the National Debt Debating over the National Debt As we were waiting for the assembly to start, we the peasants were trying to come up with different ways of resolving our nation's debt and came up with a few good ones, but they didn’t listen to us. I was with my most highest, king today in the Estates General assembly, and we’ve been arguing to resolve our beloved nation’s debt. These peasants have been wasting our time talking about some petty problems. None of our dear nobles or clergy members care for their problems, as the queen says if there’s no bread, why don't they eat cake? We’ll have them kicked out soon anyway. Locking the 3rd Estate out of the Estates General Locking the 3rd Estate out of the Estates General We were locked out of the meeting. We need to make our own group. So myself along with my husband followed a big group of delegates of our estate that were representing us. Then we went to a nearby tennis court to regroup and talk. Those stupid peasants they fell for it! We’ve been sitting here for a few hour’s. They were composing they’re insignificant list of arguments from the cahier. We locked them out and won the voting. page 2 / 4 FTHSRevolution2015 Composing of the DOROMAC Composing of the DOROMAC While we were in the indoor tennis court, we all were trying come up with ways to fix the debt when we realized we are treated unfairly. We were fed up with this baloney so instead of coming up with ways for the debt we came up with rights that all men should! Simple rights of freedom and equality. I sort of wonder where those peasants have gone. It’s a long way back to Paris. It doesn’t really matter anyway, they live in the streets. Oh wait! They’ll be back again. Then again, we will deny their arguments. This is really fun. page 3 / 4 FTHSRevolution2015 Approval of the DOROMAC Approval of the DOROMAC We all took a vow to stay united until they established a new constitution.Out of 577 third estate members, 576 agreed to sign the pledge with us. They finally listened to us and agreed to draft the declaration of human rights. We were all very pleased to hear that they finally listened to us. I can't believe those filthy peasants actually got away with it. How do they have the privilege to have the same rights as us? We are rich people and they are nobodies. It is ridiculous that our king was forced into signing that pledge. The good thing though is that he is allowed to veto any of their stupid requests. page 4 / 4 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
