the written response will be completed
individually and graded.

should be able to label all 5 oceans, 7

This week at a glance…
Everyday Math: (Repeat from last week)
This week we will continue to explore the concept of
fractions and fractional parts of collections. Students
will use fraction models to identify equivalencies and to
compare fractions. We will test our fraction knowledge
by playing two games this week, Fraction Top-it and the
Equivalent Fraction Game. Lesson 8.7 will challenge
students to create number stores that involve fractions
such as:
There are 10 children on the bus. That’s ½ of all of the people
on the bus. How many people are on the bus?
A pizza was cut into 10 equal slices. Each friend got 2 slices.
What fraction of the pizza did each person get?
Fractions can be a tricky concept for young students to
understand. Incorporating drawings and/or
manipulatives into your at-home practice will provide
concrete examples and support when working on this
concept.
