On March 30th, Isaiah Hostak's life was forever changed. During the night Isaiah
experienced a rare and serious medical condition known as Spontaneous
Volvulus (a twisting of the intestines) which cuts off blood supply to other vital organs.
All of Isaiah's intestines, colon and bowel were removed from his body to save his life,
resulting in Isaiah being unable to eat even a morsel of food.
His sole source of nourishment is taken intravenously. It is stored in a backpack
that he must be attached to for 18 hours a day.
In hopes of giving him a better quality of life he will risk a rare
transplant in Pittsburgh, PA, involving:
• A minimum six-month relocation at the time of transplant and
multiple trips before and after.
• A private plane must be hired to get Isaiah from Berlin, WI to
Pittsburgh, PA's Children’s Hospital within 6 - 8 hours.
