C4 will connect community resources to provide career education for
all students while laying the foundation for life-long learning.
Forensics in action…
“What happened to Anna Garcia?” Students in Robin Allen’s
PLTW Biomedical Science classes have been learning about
Forensic Science by investigating a crime scene involving this
fictional character. Upon entering the scene they were required to
put on gloves and a CSI New York badge. They have been learning
how to properly work the scene by collecting and documenting
evidence, taking photographs and preparing a sketch of the scene.
The next several lessons revolve around analyzing the evidence and
determining the exact time of death as well as continuing to support
or refute their initial theory about the case. Mrs. Allen reports that
she now has recipes to make fake blood and vomit, if anyone is
interested. Thanks to Criminal Justice instructor Mike Ward for the
crime scene tape, adding an extra-realistic touch!
Need a little pampering,
or “just a little off the top”?
C4’s Cosmetology salon is open
for business at the McDowell
location. Hours, prices and
specials are available on the C4 website.
Wander to the C4 website… for a few photos from
today’s in-class presentation by Austin Vendetti,
of Johnson & Wales University (Charlotte, NC campus). Kay Eagleman’s Sports
Nutrition classes and Chef Carrie Douglas’ Culinary Arts classes enjoyed the
presentation, complete with preparation of pasta carbonara!
Director’s musings…
Remember the 1970’s television show “The Six Million Dollar Man?”
Adjusted for inflation, the estimated value of six million dollars today would
be over $31 million. With bio-medical engineering, robotics, programming,
health care, detective work, and land speed records…the Six Million Dollar
Man was a walking C4 !
