TEK TEK ENSEMBLE SATURDAY 25 FEBRUARY Deniliquin Multi Arts Hall at 7pm SUNDAY 26 FEBRUARY Barham Arts Institute Hall at 2pm TEK TEK perform virtuosic and original music inspired by tropical jungles, late night Balkan weddings, 1960s chic, and shamanistic desert rituals. The balance of three guys and three girls captivate audiences with exclamatory trombone and trumpet; hedonistic violins and accordion; deeply pulsating drums and bass; wild psychedelic electric guitar; and a rich smearing of harmonized singing (and wailing) thrown on top. MAE TRIO SUNDAY 26 MARCH ‘Tarcoola’ 132 Quarry St at 2pm The Mae Trio are a young, contemporary folk band. Humbly authentic, dynamic and striking, the trio write powerful original songs, accompanying them on cello, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and ukulele and stunning three part harmonies. Their disarming on-stage presence and originality makes for a spellbinding and refreshing live experience. ULTRAFOX SUNDAY 30 APRIL Wanganella Hall at 2pm Melbourne based gypsy swing band ‘Ultrafox’ has built a growing reputation of one of the finest swing bands around. Their music is characterized by the muscular hard driving swing of gypsy style acoustic guitars laced with lyrical yet fiery solos . Hot swinging jazz, tender lyrical ballads, French melodies, gypsy waltzes and original compositions make up the band’s extensive repertoire. ACACIA QUARTET SATURDAY 1 JULY Deniliquin Multi Arts Hall at 7pm SUNDAY 2 JULY Moama Anglican Grammar at 2pm Founded in 2010 by violinists Lisa Stewart and Myee Clohessy, violist Stefan Duwe and cellist Anna Martin-Scrase, Acacia Quartet has quickly won great respect for their versatile and inventive programs which often couple established repertoire with the unorthodox. In 2013 Acacia was nominated for both an ARIA Award and an APRA-AMCOS Art Music Award. Their performances feature regularly on ABC Classic FM and Fine Music 102.5. THE CON CON SUNDAY 6 AUGUST SWMRC Concert Room at 2pm Performances from the staff, students and friends of South West Music Regional Conservatorium.
