DayCaring Preschool Newsletter June 2015 News And More NEWS AND MORE PRE-‐K GRADUATION NEW STUMPS NEEDED If you are the parent of a Pre-‐K’er, mark your calendar today and ask your boss for the day off because your Pre-‐K’er is having Graduation Day on Friday, June 12th. It’s time to replace our beloved stumps! Stump jumping, conversation circles and obstacle courses are a huge part of our outdoor classroom and we use the stumps in our yard for these and many more important and creative experiences. Graduation Ceremonies start promptly at 11am and will be followed by a pic-‐nic lunch at noon. The school will provide water and a yummy Graduation cake! You’ll want to plan on bringing blankets to sit on and packing lunch for each family member in your group. The Ceremonies will take place at The Redwood Stage by Perry Park, on Park Road just past the playground. Siblings, extended family and friends are welcome so be sure to tell grandparents, aunties and uncles too about this special day. 2 School is closed on this day and any DayCaring families are invited to join us if they wish. However, the stumps we have are loosing their bark leaving sharp edges and they have dried and aged to a degree that they are becoming to light weight to be as useful and as safe as they once were. SO… WE NEED NEW STUMPS!!! J If you can find some for us that would be wonderful, ideally I would love 12 flat cut stumps. I can arrange to pick them up if needed. You are welcome to take the old ones as they have aged beautifully and will make fantastic firewood. Thank you so much for your time and consideration of this important request J DayCaring Preschool Newsletter June 2015 Fairfax Festival Parade The annual Fairfax Festival Parade is Saturday, June 13th and every year DayCaring Preschool with it’s children, families (that’s you) and staff proudly marches in the parade. sunscreens/best-‐beach-‐sport-‐sunscreens/ Our theme this year is “Garden Guardians”. The staff and your kids have been tirelessly working away at school on making some amazing Bumble Bee and Lady Bug costumes as well as some Giant Flowers for the adults to carry in the parade. We will begin sending them home with your kids next week so keep a look out. You should receive wings and an antenna headband, if your child is a Bumble Bee they will also receive a yellow & black t-‐shirt. If they’re a Lady Bug please dress them in a black shirt under their wings for the parade. Please do your best to keep the costume in tact until the parade. It is your responsibility to have your child already dressed in their costume when they arrive at the assembly spot. Parents, we encourage you to dress in beautiful colors or other flowery type wear, we will have a few Giant Paper Flowers for some of you to carry in honor of our Garden Guardians important job. J A couple requests, I need someone to help carry the banner with me so if you would like to help with this important job please let me know sometime in the next week. Also, just a reminder that one adult needs to be walking with each child in the parade as we will disperse quickly at the end, by Perry Park, and wont be able to be responsible for children other than our own. 3
