About SPLYB Band Camp
SPLYB was originally formed as Orange
County Lutheran Youth Band in 1992 and is
the premier youth marching band in Orange
County. We serve students entering grades
4—9 with as little as one year of instrument
experience and no experience necessary for
color guard. The program is for students
interested in marching band, color guard and
concert band and is managed and directed by
Mr. Jack Lara.
During the 3-week camp students will experience:

Common Questions
Who can join Band Camp?
Any student of music and performing arts entering 4th-9th grade. Band students should
have a year of experience; color guard needs no experience.
What does it cost? Is there financial aid available?
The 3-week camp is $300 plus $25 for the uniform shirt. Instrument rentals are available.
In addition, needs-based scholarships, whole or in part may be available.
What about lunch?
Students bring their own lunch.
How difficult is the music/routine?
The music is pre-selected and arranged according to the abilities of the players at the time.
The color guard routine is tailored to the experience of the team.
What is the daily schedule?
The mornings are for marching practice, the afternoons for breakout ensembles and concert band practice. There are daily breaks to play games and relax.
What is the uniform?
The band & color guard uniform is a matching Hawaiian shirt ($25) and black shorts and
shoes (purchased on your own). Sunglasses and necklaces are provided the day of the pa-
