As we close out the first semester, please remember that we need to be more attentive to our children’s academic and social progress; and maybe make a few changes. As educators, we may need to change the environment for students who are not making the expected progress or change the feedback we give them to promote deeper thinking. As parents, we may need to change the way we structure our child’s out of school time, or change what we allow them to do when they are out of our sight. Children will be what they are allowed to be, as the major influences in their life, we need to do what we can to help them be the best person they can be. Some classes are practicing their reading strategies learning about the season and others are practicing learning about the life cycle of a snowman. We are honing our time telling skills, increasing our fact fluency, and applying our word problem solving strategies to solve challenging word problems. Some are writing sentences about the parts of winter and others are writing essays on animal adaptation in the winter. Speech is using winter-themed books to practice different skills.
