President Harry Oryhon Seraphim Group President Howard Brooks 50/50 Club President Michael Gbur Brotherhood of St. Constantine President John Policzszuk From the Pastor Success of Parish life lies in life giving life-affirming activities. Such as a Common Effort to Pray, Work, Learn and Celebrate, have Fun together. A common effort, meaning everyone gets together. Everyone - meaning everyone is welcome to come and join in. Everyone is welcome, despite his/her background, language, age, ethnicity. Despite how imperfect they are according to our standards that we have created for everyone else but not ourselves, because we are perfect on our own… everyone else is not! Unless we will get rid of our presumed “perfectness” and extraordinary ability to see imperfectness in the others, there will be no gathering of Everyone. There will be no common prayer, work or celebration. It will be a gathering of individuals with individual, private needs such as heeling of an ill afflicted ego that has taken over our hearts and souls. In this special season as we celebrate the mystery of incarnation of the Word of God As we ponder upon the immeasurable Love of God and beyond comprehension forgiveness of our sins, let’s follow God Himself by being more loving and forgiving to one another. When we deal with some problems and we blame someone else for them, we are so wrong. Because those are our problems not someone else’s, but ours. It is important to implement a common effort to pray, as a community, because “where two or three are gathered in my name I am among them” Matthew 18:20 If we won’t gather, there will be no gathering. If we put our earthly priorities, excuses to not to have time to dedicate to gathering in His name at least ones a week, there simply be no such gathering for us to partake. There will be gathering of the others, but not us. Importance to learn the word of God. We have to learn God’s word constantly, because there is so much to learn. Religious Education increases our faith, has a tempering effect on our virtues. The more we know of God the more we understand Him the more we draw closer to Him. Common work. Effort to work for the community for the common good. If we won’t work for the benefit of the community, someone else won’t do it for us, simply because the parish community is not someone else’s, but ours and it is our responsibility to support it. Celebrate It’s always joyful to celebrate as a community, together, not apart. Celebration brings us closer together. Especially the Divine Liturgy, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, thanksgiving to God. It unites us with God and one another in a spiritually mysterious way. Fun. If we come to Church expecting only fun and nothing else but fun, then we are in the wrong place. Circus is down the street. Fun is important to have as a community but in moderation and at a specially allocated time for it. First, Prayer, work and education, then there will be a fun celebration. Epist.– PM Olenka St. Ambrose on Nativity of Jesus Christ “Why is it hard to believe that Mary gave birth in a way contrary to the law of natural birth and remained a virgin, when contrary to the law of nature the sea looked at Him and fled, and the waters of the Jordan returned to their source (Ps. 113:3). Is it past belief that a virgin gave birth when we read that a rock issued water (Ex. 17:6), and the waves of the sea were made solid as a wall (Ex. 14:22)? Is it past belief that a Man came from a virgin when a rock bubbled forth a flowing stream (Ex. 20:11), iron floated on water (4 Kings 6:6), a Man walked upon the waters (Mt. 14:26)? If the waters bore a Man, could not a virgin give birth to a man? What Man? Him of Whom we read: ‘…the Lord shall be known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day; and they shall offer sacrifices, and shall vow vows to the Lord, and pay them’ (Is. 19:20). In the Old Testament a Hebrew virgin (Miriam) led an army through the sea (Ex. 15:21); in the New testament a king’s daughter (the Virgin Mary) was chosen to be the heavenly entrance to salvation.” Synodal Letter 44 3 Sunday School As it was previously announced St. Nicholas visit has been postpone due to his busy schedule and weather conditions. The pews are in the process of being refinished. The new carpeting has been installed throughout the Church Temple. With this in mind we are asking our parish family to contribute to the best of their ability to help us defray the coast of the repairs. It was found by an honest little boy and returned to her. Looking in her purse, she commented, "Hmmm.... That's funny. When I lost my bag there was a $20 bill in it. Now there are twenty $1 bills." The boy quickly replied, "That's right, lady. The last time I found a lady's purse, she didn't have any change for a reward."
