State Bank Connection Winter 2013 Positive Ideas and Information for our Customers We wish it wasn’t over, Bev! I thought it was unlikely that I would return to my hometown after leaving for college. A small town had limited job opportunities and I left without any career plans for the future. So I felt very fortunate after graduating and Bruce Wolf, President starting my banking career in the Twin Cities State Bank of New Prague to learn of a job opening in town. After an interesting hiring process, a position at Fidelity State Bank of New Prague brought me back home in 1982. Working at the bank was a great learning experience, made even better because of the wonderful group of people who were my co-workers. It was there that I began my long term working relationship with Bev Zvanovec. I learned quickly that she knew and understood what was going on throughout the bank. Her strong work ethic included a concern and commitment for the success of the organization. There were many laughs mixed in through the years. Bev has always Bev Zvanovec been involved in expense management. In those Senior Vice President leaner times of the farm crisis, I remember there was once an idea of rationing toilet paper to save money and help manage overhead expenses. It was also at Fidelity Bank that I began to appreciate her compassionate, encouraging and problem solving nature. In 1986 she brought those qualities with her to State Bank of New Prague. Not too long after, I joined the Bank as well. It has now been over 27 years that Bev has been actively involved in the management of the State Bank. At the heart of our success has been talented people like Bev. Among her duties has been the responsibility for the management of the daily operations of the bank. Working with her has been a true pleasure. Bev will be retiring from her formal duties as Senior Vice President of State Bank of New Prague at the end of the year, but Bev will remain at the bank on a part time basis as her retirement schedule allows. As a friend and co-worker, I am grateful for everything she has done for the State Bank of New Prague, the community and for me in particular. And so, Bev, I extend my warmest wishes for a long and rewarding retirement! This time we chose two couples who are having new homes built with the help of Ed Hrabe and Lisa Korbel of our mortgage department. Here is what they had to say: Jennifer and Eric Nelson are building a home on 280th Street. Jennifer said, “We picked State Bank of New Prague because my parents had their home financed through them and they had a very good experience. Lisa has been very easy to work with. She listens, gives advice, keeps in touch and has made the process run smoothly.” Eric added, “We are very pleased and would not hesitate to recommend SBNP to anyone planning to buy or build a house.” Amber and Travis Schaap are building a house on Hickey Lake Drive. Amber said, “We were not finding the financing we wanted at the big banks. Then, our real estate agent suggested we go to a smaller bank. That’s when we went to State Bank of New Prague and met Ed.” “Yes, we met with Ed”, added Travis, “and a half hour later we walked out knowing exactly what was going to happen. We would highly recommend the State Bank. They have been great!” If you are considering construction or buying a different home, call Ed Hrabe (NMLS # 584285) or Lisa Korbel (NMLS # 584288) at 952-758-4491. r e t t ! t e u B ho c t a w Santa will be landing at State Bank of New Prague on Tuesday, December 17th!
