Road Trip USA - Kingfisher Primary School

Literacy
Maths
Our Literacy will all be focused on our travels across America. We
will be spending time looking, in detail, at letters. We are working
towards writing a series of letters home from America. As part of
our main topic we will be immersing the children through a variety
of activities. We will be extending our vocabulary further to
include prepositions, the simple past tense and the use of pronouns.
In Maths, we will remain teaching with a mastery approach,
focusing on multiplication and division as well as measurement.
Art
In our topic we are going to
develop and use our art skills to
create lots of traditional and
cultural artwork from America.
We hope to show you this nearer
the end of the term!
Please keep practicing your times tables at home as these will help
in Maths every day!

team games such as dodge ball and basketball.

range of music and to create their
own.

History and Geography
As part of the Year 4 curriculum, we
will be learning about electricity. This
will link well with a particular state
within the USA – can you guess which
one? We will look at how to make a
circuit using the necessary equipment.
As a school, we will be continuing our
topic, ‘Be the Best You Can Be’. Each
week children will be given time to
think about their hopes and dreams
for the future.
This term, we will be using our
geography skills to identify and locate
different states in the USA. Our
history will require us to discover
more about the people who lived in the
USA in the past.
