Spanish 3 Summer Reading Karigan-Winter Queridos estudiantes, I hope you’ve had a great year in Spanish, and I look forward to seeing you again in August! Expose yourself to as much Spanish as you can this summer so that you stay in “Spanish mode!” That could be watching Spanish television, reading poems (Pablo Neruda is awesome!), watching movies with/without subtitles, TALKING to native speakers and each other in Spanish, listening to Spanish music (there’s so much good stuff out there!), etc. Beyond that, I am asking that you review the material you learned in Spanish 2 from Realidades chapters “Para Empezar” through 8 (minus Ch. 6) by visiting the book’s website below. We will have a review quiz over all of this material the first week we return to school. http://www.phschool.com/webcodes10/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.gotoWebCode&wcprefix=jdk&wcsuffix=0001 (You should have this page already saved as a favorite on your computer, but if you don’t, it would probably be easier to search “Realidades program page” and then select Level 2, as opposed to trying to type out the web address.) Topics to review are: TENER Verbs with irregular YO forms – present tense Stem-changing (“boot”) verbs – present tense & ir verbs in the preterit tense IR (IR a + infinitive / destination) Reflexive verbs (all tenses) SER vs. ESTAR Preterite tense (including ALL irregularities) Commands (affirmative and negative) Present progressive tense Imperfect tense Preterit vs. Imperfect Direct & Indirect object pronouns PRETERITE vs. IMPERFECT Imperfect progressive tense Present perfect tense Present subjunctive ¡Viva el español y nos vemos en agosto! Con cariño, Srta. Karigan-Winter
