COMMUNION STATEMENT
In the early church, the celebration of the Lord’s Supper was viewed as a
continuation of the RESURRECTION appearances of the Risen Savior. It
was viewed much the same as Jesus saying to Thomas, “Put your finger
here; see My hands. Stop doubting and believe” (John 20:27). As Jesus
promised, we believe that He is really present in this Sacrament with His
very body and His very blood for our forgiveness. We also believe that oneness in doctrine is Biblically affirmed for those who receive the Sacrament
together. We therefore ask guests desiring to commune to kindly speak with
the pastor before the service.
STEWARDSHIP BIBLE VERSE FOR MAY 21, 2017
John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” Jesus is
clear: our obedience to His Word comes from our love for Him. But where
does that love come from? Jesus tells us that as well, “She was forgiven
much, so she loved much” (Luke 7:47). Christ shows us His love and gives
us the forgiveness of our sins – and this causes love to well up in us, which
in turn causes us to keep the commandments of Jesus. For after all, the
summary of the Law is “Love.”
