What will the students do during the lesson to meet the objectives? Warm- Up QOD: Define the word “STYLE”. What do you think it will mean to us and IMPROV? Bridge/ Transition Yesterday... ● What did we do yesterday? Freeze, Playing off others ideas Today... ● Ask the students to get back into their original lines of 1s and 2s. Give the sheets with the conversations on them to the first two in line. As the partners come to perform the scene, have the first perform the scene as it is read. Have them switch lines. The next partnership from the lines chooses one style from the bag. They then must perform the scene in that style, for example, Soap Opera. Have each pair perform the scene in that style. Content Step 1: Ask the students how the style or the way they were told to perform the scene changed the way it was done. Why was the style so important? Step 2: Ask for 4 volunteers. These students are going to perform a scene for the class. Ask for a suggestion of setting from the class. Give these students 35 minutes to plan out what they’re going to perform. Let them perform the scene. Step 3: Now change the style. Have them do it in styles such as musical theatre, mortal combat, drama, romance, soap opera, comedy, western and Japanese martial arts. Step 4: Have all students get the chance to perform their scenes. Closure Today... ● What did we do today? What were we examing? ● Movement/Pantomime/ Character Choice/ Playing off of other’s ideas/Syle Relevance: ● We have now looked at setting, relationship, movement, character, playing off of others, style. We are starting to build our list of “Must-haves” for good improv. Make sure to keep note of the games we are playing. They will be returning in the near future. Talk about the final for the unit. It is an improv show. They will be graded on participation and not by how well they performed. Tomorrow... Francis C. Justification and Reflection Justification: Why was this the best method to use to meet the learning objectives for the day? Reflection: What would you have done differently?
