Term 1 - Week 3 Tuesday, 7 February, 2017 PRINCIPALS MESSAGE VRP Class Award - will start shortly DIARY DATES WELCOME Last week we welcomed 56 new kindergarten students to our school. To you, we extend a warm welcome and wish you a long and happy association with our school. Our new students coped very well with the new routine of ‘big school’. They waved mum, dad, grandma and grandpa off, without any hesitation. It was a truly impressive display of resilience as not one Kindergarten child shed a tear!!! Week 3 When I visited each classroom later in the morning, every child was happy and comfortable in their new environment. Week 4 Congratulations parents, for the preparations you have made over the last six months to get your children to this point. I would also like to thank and Mrs Colburt, Miss Lavender and Mrs Bellamy for their efforts to ensure the children remained happy and comfortable. Kindergarten students will spend the next few weeks getting to know their new environment, establishing routines and making new friends. I would also like to welcome 8 new families, whose children began the year in grades 1-6. We will make it our top priority to ensure your children feel just as happy and comfortable in their new school as our new kinders. In the next two weeks all classes will be allocated a buddy class. That means allocating a junior class with a senior class. These two classes will begin to spend more time together, getting to know each other and working on little projects, or reading and writing together. If you are unsure of any procedures please don’t hesitate to either see your child’s teacher before or after class, or ring the school office for clarification. This way we can all play an active role in reaching that important goal. A term letter from class teachers with specific details relevant to your stage grade will follow shortly. LEADERSHIP CAMP On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week our Year 6 captains and vice-captains will be attending a Leadership Camp. This camp provides a great opportunity for the children to meet with school leaders from other schools in our area and develop skills to assist them in fulfilling their role as a school leader effectively. Upon their return they will train the school executive team (prefects), who will then train our SRC (School Representative Council). 2 SWIMMING CARNIVAL This Thursday 9th February is our school swimming carnival. Students in year 2 turning 8 (with ability/permission only) and years 3-6 will be attending. These students have already received a permission note containing the relevant organisational information about what to wear and bring. Please refer to this. Please ensure that this permission note has been returned. Please note that the buses for the year 2, 50m swimmers and the 3-6 students will leave at 9:10am. P&C MEETING The February meeting of the P&C AGM will be held on Wednesday 10th February 2017 starting at 7:45pm in the school library. All parents are invited. SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS In the following week you will receive an invoice for planned excursions/incursions, sporting activities, consumables, levies as well as voluntary P&C contributions. It is now possible for parents to make online payments (POP) to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac (further information below). You may continue to pay by cash or cheque in payment chutes in the office. If you have any trouble understanding what to pay please do not hesitate to call our office to speak to Mrs Young. Families will be invoiced at the beginning of each term for planned activities. MAKE ONLINE PAYMENTS (POP) It is now possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, and can be made via computer, tablet or mobile phone. The payment page is accessed from the front page of the schools website by selecting ‘Parents Tab’, then selecting ‘Payment Tab’. Items that can be paid include voluntary school contributions, subject contributions, excursions, sales to students and creative and practical arts activities. There is also a category called ‘Other’ this to cover items not covered in the previous headings. Other can be used to make a complete payment of a school invoice. When you access the ‘Payment Tab’ you must enter: the students name, and class and reference number OR the students name, and date of birth. These details are entered each time you make a payment as student information is not held within the payment system. This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are captured in a secure manner, these details are not passed back to the school. You have the ability to check and change any details of the payment before the payment is processed. Receipts can be emailed and/or printed. Details of the payments are passed daily to the school where they will be receipted against your child’s account. A receipt has been issued from the payment page and a further receipt will be issued by the school. For any enquiries regarding the Online Payment process please contact the School Administration Office to speak to Mrs Young. Please note if you have already paid for gym as a separate payment you will not need to pay for it again in the term invoice. THE EPPING NORTH SKOOLBAG APP.
