Decomposers break down
dead animal and plant
matter.
Decomposer
Decomposers include
mushrooms, fungi, and
bacteria.
Secondary
Consumer
There are fewer secondary
consumers than there are
primary consumers because
each secondary consumer
needs to eat a lot of primary
consumers to live.
The secondary consumers
include the animals that
eat the primary consumers
(carnivores), such as: snakes,
weasels, coyotes, hawks, etc.
The primary consumers
include the animals
that mostly eat plants
(herbivores), such as: mice,
chipmunks, squirrels,
rabbits, deer.
Producers are plants, which
make (produce) their own
food using water, sunlight
and carbon dioxide though
photosynthesis.

There are fewer primary
consumers than there are
plants (producers) because
each herbivore needs a lot of
plant matter to live.
There are more plants
(producers) than any other
living thing because they
are the bottom of the food
chain.
Foldable Activity Design Template: (8.5 x 11” sheet for 5.5 x 8.5” Result)
8.5 x 11”
paper
Like this.
Like this.
Fold the paper
in the center.
Fold again.
Fold the outside
flaps in.
Now you have
three fold lines.
This is what your foldable will look like
when you print out the double-sided art
and fold and as instructed above.
Last step is the cut the outside flaps to
separate each question.
Then cut along premarked lines for an
“8 Question” Foldable.
For best foldable results, use
heavier paper. Cover stock is
best, but 65 pound works great
too.
