CW4 Howard French, & Capt Eldon Pontius,
I hope that all had a very Merry
Christmas and a very Happy New
Year.
This coming year will most likely
be a very challenging year for the
military as the present administration continues to search out ways of
reducing military costs. Those of
you who receive and have read the
January issue of Military Officer
Magazine will see that there is a
long list of military benefits that are
on the line for change as money saving measures. We must continue to
educate potential members on the
necessity of becoming a member of
MOAA and what may be at stake if
the measures the DOD are seeking
are allowed to be approved by Congress. It is only through numbers
and speaking with one powerful
voice that the gains that have been
made in benefits over the last 10
years are not eroded away
This month will bring to an end
my term as chapter president. I
would like to thank all the members
for their support. I would like to especially thank the members of the
executive committee for all their
work and for what the chapter has
accomplished this past year.

TREASURER’S
REPORT
LADIES' ACTIVITIES
The ladies met at Oakland Manor on 12 December for a nice lunch and
enjoyed the beautifully decorated old manor house. They were given a tour
and heard about the history of the manor.
Since the likelihood of hazardous weather conditions in January and
February is high, it has been decided, in the interest of safety, to defer all
activities for the ladies for that period. Consequently, the next event will be
scheduled for March. Watch this space and the website for details as they
become available.

Previous Meeting Highlights
Fifty-one members and guests attended the December meeting at the Clarksville Country Club. After short
introductory remarks by President Howard French, everyone lined up to make their selections from the
sumptuous brunch buffet. There were so many options it was difficult to choose; so, many went back for a second
pass to sample what they missed.
Following the meal, everyone's attention turned to the table full of festively wrapped items at the front of the
room. Col Yaeger, in his guise as 'Dirty Santa' himself, called the first of 29 numbers for the gift exchange.
Gift cards and variously shaped glass containers filled with brownish liquids were the most coveted and,
therefore, stolen most quickly. But other treasures like the leg lamp, poinsettia ceramic, barbecue tools, and
grooming products resided with their original recipients until late in the exchange. One finally changed hands
(along with a $20 added 'incentive').
When all was said and done it was a fun time with lots of laughs and good-natured competition.
