One week prior to the exam you will be sent an exam ID number by email. Please bring this ID number and your photo ID to the exam. ConditionsofRegistration 1. This registration form, completed and signed by the Registrant, must be received by the Victorian Bar Inc. at Owen Dixon Chambers East, Level 5, 205 William Street, Melbourne Vic 3000 by no later than 5.00pm on the Registration Form Submission Date, failing which, the Victorian Bar Inc. may deny access to the relevant Reader's Course examination. The onus of proving receipt shall be on the Registrant and the Victorian Bar Inc. takes no responsibility for registration forms submitted by post. Email receipt will be acknowledged. 2. Registrants confirm they are eligible to commence the Readers’ Course (requirements are set out in the Application and Reading Regulations). 3. Registration to undertake the above Reader's Course examination (Examination) shall be confirmed by the Victorian Bar Inc. following the Registration Form Submission Date. At this time further details of the exam structure and requirements may be provided. 4. The Registrant consents to all correspondence (including in relation to Examination results) being via the above email address. Registrants who do not have email addresses must agree a separate communication arrangement with the Victorian Bar Inc. 5. Registrants shall be required to present photo ID acceptable to the Victorian Bar Inc., in its discretion, as a precondition to sitting the Examination. Passports (or a certified copy) and Australian drivers' licences are acceptable forms of ID. 6. The Examination shall be held on a partial open book format whereby candidates will be supplied at the exam with a hard copy of the Reading Guide and Legislation Booklet. Candidates must not bring their own copies to the exam. Reference to extraneous materials shall not be permitted. The Registrant must undertake the Examination honestly, without interference or disruption to other participants and in accordance with the directions and instructions given by the Chief Examiner or invigilator(s) responsible for the conduct of the Examination. If the Registrant in any way breaches the requirements of this condition, he or she may be excluded from further participation in the Examination and, in the discretion of the Victorian Bar Council or one of its committees, from further participation in any future examinations. The decisions of Chief Examiner, invigilator(s), the Victorian Bar Council and the Bar Council’s Committees under this condition shall not be open to challenge in any way. Completed Examination papers will be retained for a period of six months from the date of the Examination and then destroyed. 7. An applicant who considers that his or her examination result may be, or has been, affected by hardship or other negative circumstances (such as bereavement, illness or injury), either before or during the examination, may make application for special consideration. 8. By submitting a registration form to Victorian Bar Inc. the Registrant agrees that he or she is bound by these conditions and: a. The Victorian Bar Incorporated Application and Reading Regulations accessible from https://www.vicbar.com.au/uploads//exam/The_Victorian_Bar_Incorporated_Ap plication_and_Reading_Regulations_(Amended_16_June_2016).pdf as amended from time to time; b. any transitional arrangements or directions as communicated by the Bar Office from time to time; c. any determinations or decisions of the Chief Examiner. 9. By submitting a registration form to Victorian Bar Inc. the Registrant further agrees that, upon completing of the examination, all property in the Registrant’s examination script vests exclusively in the Victorian Bar Inc. and that the contents of the Registrant’s examination script may be used by the Victorian Bar Inc. for development and educational purposes pertaining to the Entrance Exam generally. 10. In the event more candidates successfully complete the exam than can be accommodated in the following readers’ course, the Bar reserves the right to adopt a process to allocate places at its discretion.
