Qualifications required for post: Ideally pursuing AAT qualification, strong Maths & English, written and spoken.
Experience required for post: Experience of working in a similar role in a large complex organisation. Experience
of using sophisticated computerised financial accounting systems. Ideally experience of MS Excel & Word.
Overall purpose of post: To work as part of the Finance Team carrying out the financial duties of the Faculty in
accordance with Faculty and University procedures; and to provide a high standard of customer service. To support
the management accountant in the provision and analysis of management accounting information and provide
support and regular contact with budget holders.
Main duties:
1. Assist the management accountant in the provision of financial information; including preparation and
distribution of materials for meetings with budget holders.
2. Support the management accountant and budget holders in the preparation of budgets and supporting
information.
3. Meet regularly with budget holders and provide advice and guidance where required.
4. Support the management accountant and budget holders in the operational monitoring and control of those
agreed budgets.
5. Provide regular forecasting information to the management accountant and budget holder on accounts as
directed.
6. Review with the management accountant on an on-going basis the account and activity code structure,
recommending improvements to improve the quality and content of reporting.
7. Maintain the Faculty Staffing budget and meet regularly with the faculty administrator responsible for Human
Resources to ensure consistency and accuracy.
8. Maintain accurate financial records, and monitor and investigate faculty accounts as directed.
9. Manage the student bursary schemes, ensuring financial records and payments are accurate and prompt, and
dealing with all queries.
10. Manage the financial reconciliation of external funders e.g. TDA, NHS etc
11. Reconciliation of cedar payroll accounts to/and preparation of monthly payroll reports; for inclusion in the
budget holder and faculty management accounting packs, ensuring that any journal corrections are made and
Payroll/HR advised of corrections required to central computerised payroll file.
12. Reconciliation of individual cedar accounts as directed.
13. Processing orders and invoices, travel claims, credit card accounts, cheque payments.
14. Maintain an up to date comprehensive schedule of authorisation levels and budget control signatories.
15. Liaising regularly with the University Central Finance Department.
16. Raising of sales invoices, as directed by the Faculty Management Accountant
17. Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required
