Prayer for the Evening HYMN Alleluia! sing to Jesus! His the scepter

O praise the Lord, Jerusalem!
Zion, praise your God!
Prayer for the Evening
The Lord feeds us with finest wheat: come, let us give thanks and praise!
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now, and will be f orever. Amen. Alleluia!
He has strengthened the bars of your gates,
he has blessed the children within you.
He established peace on your borders,
he feeds you with finest wheat.
HYMN
Alleluia! sing to Jesus!
His the scepter, his the throne;
Alleluia! his the triumph,
His the victory alone;
Hark, the songs of peaceful Zion
Thunder like a mighty flood;
Iesus out of ev’ry nation
Has redeemed us by his blood.
He sends out his word to the earth
and swiftly runs his command.
He showers down snow white as wool,
he scatters hoar-frost like ashes.
Alleluia! Bread of angels,
Here on earth our food, our stay!
Alleluia! here the sinful
Flee to you from day to day:
Intercessor, friend of sinners,
Earth’s redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless
Sweep across the crystal sea.
He makes his word known to Jacob,
to Israel his laws and decrees.
He has not dealt thus with other nations;
he has not taught them his decrees.
Alleluia! King eternal,
You the Lord of lords we own;
Alleluia! born of Mary,
Earth your footstool, heav n your throne:
You within the veil have entered,
Robed in flesh, our great high priest;
Here on earth both priest and victim
In the Eucharistic feast.
H AVING SENT certain young men of the Israelites to offer holocausts
and sacrifice young bulls as peace offerings to the LORD, Moses took half
of the blood and put it in large bowls; the other half he splashed on the
altar. Taking the book of the covenant, he read it aloud to the people, who
answered, “All that the LORD has said, we
will heed and do.” Then he took the blood and sprinkled it on the people,
saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with
you in accordance with all these words of his.”
PSALM 147
He hurls down hailstones like crumbs.
The waters are frozen at his touch;
he sends forth his word and it melts them:
at the breath of his mouth the waters flow.

Come then, Lord, and help your people,
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints
to glory everlasting.
JESUS SPOKE TO the crowds
I about the kingdom of God,
and he healed those who needed to be cured. As the day
was drawing to a close, the Twelve approached him and
said, “Dismiss the crowd so that they can go to the surrounding villages and farms and find lodging and provisions; for we are in
a deserted place here.” He said to them, “Give them some food
yourselves.” They replied, “Five loaves and two fish are all we have,
unless we ourselves go and buy food for all these people.” Now
the men there numbered about five thousand. Then he
said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of
about fifty.” They did so and made them all sit down.
Then taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he
said the blessing over them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to
set before the crowd. They all ate and were satisfied. And when the
leftover fragments were picked up, they filled twelve wicker baskets.
IN TE RCESS IO NS
The Gospel of the Lord.
You, Christ, are the king of glory,
the eternal Son of the Father.
When you became man to set us free
you did not spurn the Virgin's womb.
You overcame the sting of death,
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
You are seated at God's right hand in glory.
We believe that you will come, and be our judge.
In peace let us pray to the Lord:
