Lately, Ben hasn’t been feeling very well.
When Ben tries to go to the toilet, he
finds his poo is very hard and it hurts
when it comes out.
It doesn’t matter how hard he pushes. Ben’s poo won’t
come out easily. Ben doesn’t feel very well at all.
Sometimes when Ben is playing with his friends
he can’t control his poo and it sneaks out into
his underpants.
When this happens Ben feels embarrassed.
“It’s not my fault,” says Ben to himself. “I can’t feel
my poo. It just comes out by itself.”

“If you don’t do all these things, your poor bowel
muscles stretch out of shape so much, they can’t work
properly. That’s why you have trouble going to the

morn
Doctor Davis told Ben that the
medicine and good food will
help his body move the poo
that is stuck in his bowel.
If Ben goes to the toilet
for five minutes every
morning, there won’t be
much left in his bowel to
sneak out into his pants
during the day.
After twenty minutes, Ben
sits on the toilet and reads
his favorite book. Because Ben’s
legs are still too short to reach the
floor, his Mum puts a stool in front
of him so he can rest his legs and
sit comfortably on the toilet.

When Ben puts his hand up in class, his
teacher excuses him straight away, so
Ben can go to the toilet quickly, before
the poo can sneak out into his pants.
Before going
to bed one night,
Ben’s Mum and
Dad give Ben a
really cool calendar.
Over the next few
weeks, Ben circles the
days he doesn’t have
any poo accidents.
Very soon, Ben is

days on his calendar.
