The Future Development of the School - Multi-Academy Trust Consultation
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in our consultation. To date we have held 5 consultation
meetings, plus additional meetings for the staff team. Questions and answers raised prior to and
throughout the consultation have been grouped and are on our school website. Governors have
been also able to answer a number of questions personally. The consultation closes tomorrow,
Tuesday 14th July. Further information will be provided to parents before the end of this school
term.
Sainsburys Active Kids ……….

really appreciated we received 18,614

Sports Days………..
We held 3 great sports days in which all children
performed brilliantly.
The weather was even on our side for the most part!
Well done everyone, you are all winners!
YEAR 5 PLAY – well done to all the year 5 for a magnificent end of year
performance. A truly outstanding drama production of the Greek inspired play –
The Odyad.
-
Look out for our Yearbook 2014-15 which is due to be distributed this week -
The Year 6 Tag Rugby team came joint first in the York City Knights
festival. They won every game and drew in the final to bring the trophy
to Hempland. Well done!
Transition to New Classes
Although we all have a lovely Summer holiday to look forward to we are also thinking about next year
and new classes!
This week the children will have 2 sessions with their new teachers, experiencing some of the activities
they will have in their new year group.
This is a great opportunity to get to know their new class teachers too. These will take place on Tuesday
afternoon and Wednesday morning. There will also be an opportunity for parents and carers to meet with
their class teacher during a drop in session in September.
All the teachers are really looking forward to meeting their new classes and finding out all about the
children ready for September.

And Finally, for the end of term
It is that time of year when we say farewell to our pupils in Year 6 as they leave
Hempland ready to move on to their secondary school.
We would like to wish all the children the very best of luck and thank them and
their families for their contributions to school. We are certain they will continue to
succeed and shine!
Special mentions to staff who are leaving this week
After 15 years service at Hempland Primary School we say happy retirement to Mr Lonsdale, who has
over the years worked as Site Manager, Teaching Assistant, Breakfast Club Assistant, Gardening
Club co-ordinator and has enjoyed many trips with the Year 5’s to the Dales.
In September Mr Lonsdale will turn 70 and he intends to fill his spare with visiting family in Australia
and South Africa. Bird watching, canoeing and sailing.
Mrs Miller is moving onto new things, she has been a brilliant Teaching Assistant in Early Years and
lunchtime support this year.
Huge thanks to Mrs Barnard who is also leaving us at the end of the year. Many of you will know
Emma through her great work over many years with the FRIENDS. She is also an excellent Teaching
Assistant who has provided great support to lots of children in all year groups.
Thank you everyone and our very best wishes to you all.
School closes for Summer this Friday, 17th July. Have a lovely holiday.☺
School re-opens for the Autumn term on Tuesday 8th September.
