Lions Club
U P D AT E
The Lions Club now has 32 members, we meet on the first and
third Wednesday of the month in the lounge at Alfie’s at 6 p.m.
What does the Lions Club do?
We are a community organization that does volunteer service.
We also raise a small amount of money to fund our projects. We
have many projects but most members just work on a chosen
few. You can see our last few months on our Facebook page at:
www.facebook.com/OrmondbyseaLions. Each year we try to raise
funds for our projects, which include a $1000 scholarship to a
deserving, local high school senior, funding eye exams for people
that qualify, Adopt a Road and Beach clean-up 4 times per year,
working at non-profit fundraising nights, doing community book
sales, we help stock food pantries and donate each year to the
Florida Conklin Center for the Blind, Southeastern Guide Dog
School, and Lions Club International, just to name a few. We have
also given to our local schools and churches. It is not all work,
we actually have a lot of fun and have a program once a month at
our club meetings. We are looking for more community minded
people to join and “Serve”. It does coast $75 per year to belong
to the Lions. Why do I pay to be a volunteer? Because it is very
rewarding work, and I love giving back to others. If you would like
to come visit the Lions Club at a meeting or work on a project
with me, give me a call at 386-453-4099.

Dina’s Dishings:
to our
Mother’s Day will come first in May on the
14th, bring mom in for a special dinner and a
flower, and at the end of the month, Memorial
Day Weekend signaling the beginning of
summer and June brings Father’s Day! Bring
Dad in for dinner and help him select one of
our ties, each packed with a prize! Greg and
I are looking forward to some much needed
down time together at our cabin in NC before
the summer influx. Our beautiful grandson
turned 8 on April 4, where does the time go,
and enjoyed his Pokemon Party with his friends and family. Our
youngest son Robert is working towards completing his Bachelors
Degree at UCF and working full time at Apple. Our daughter
Ashley has moved her teaching career forward to the public
school system in NC, teaching American History to high school
students! Greg and I and Katie will be attending the International
Lions Convention in Chicago the first week of July, Greg is
working his way toward becoming Second Vice District Governor.
