Dear Grade Seven Parent/Guardian: We are so excited to start the conversation about scheduling classes with your student for the 2015-‐2016 school year! Academic teams for core classes will be back at PCMS and we are thrilled about reintegrating this approach at our school. We have a variety of encore classes for your student to take during their educational experience here at PCMS. Remember, the school year is divided into two semesters. Some classes are a year long and others are a semester long. Students who are required to take Math or Reading Connections (Tier 2 Academic Intervention class) as an encore will be identified at a later date and this class will replace a one-‐year encore class in your student’s schedule. (Y) ***Honors French 2 (HS Credit) 14. (Y) ^ Concert Orchestra (0 bell) 7. (Y) ***Honors Spanish 2 (HS Credit) 15. (Y) ^ Concert Band (0 bell) 8. (Y) ^ Honors Art (HS Credit) (S) Semester long class (Y) Year long class *** Teacher permission required ^ Audition and/ or application only Students will be AUTOMATICALLY scheduled in their core classes based on a rubric. Students will also be AUTOMATICALLY scheduled for encore classes: Art, Intro to Digital Art, Music, PE, and Knovations, unless we hear they have been selected for another class. Placement into Band, Orchestra and/or Choir, requires teacher permission and/or an audition may be necessary. Please be on the lookout for information from the Music Department in April. Placement into Honors French 2 or Honors Spanish 2 is teacher recommendation only and the student must have previously taken French 1 or Spanish 1. In reference to Honors Art, your student will need to fill out an application, which can be requested from an Art Department staff member and may need to submit a piece of art work to the Art Department for consideration in the class.
