Shahin Mustafayev: “Nearly 3 thousand Turkish companies operate
in Azerbaijan”
Baku, May 13, AZERTAC
“Turkey is one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan. Nearly 3 thousand Turkish companies operate in our
country, while nearly 1,600 Azerbaijani companies operate in Turkey”, said Azerbaijani Minister of
Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev, on May 12, at the meeting with the President of the Union of
Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, who is visiting Baku to
attend the “B20 Azerbaijan regional advisory forum”.
At the meeting, Azerbaijani minister highlighted the discussions of the development of entrepreneurship, the
importance of B20 platform offering G20 for establishing relations between the business communities of the
countries and global policy makers. He said that, political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and
Turkey reached the level of strategic cooperation and develop successfully in all directions. Mr. Mustafayev
also stressed the role of mutual visits of the presidents of two countries and bilateral meetings in the
development of cooperation between the two countries.
“Our countries are active participants of large­scale energy and transport projects, as The Baku­Tbilisi­
Ceyhan, Baku­Tbilisi­Erzurum, Baku­Tbilisi­Kars and TANAP. As well as Turkish companies are involved
as subcontractors in the projects implemented in Azerbaijan”, Mustafayev added.
Emphasizing the role of the private sector, Mustafayev stressed the importance of TOBB in developing
relations between the businessmen. The Minister also hailed that, Turkey supports Azerbaijan's fair position
in the Armenia­Azerbaijan, Nagorno­Karabakh conflict.
President of TOBB Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in turn, expressed his impressions about the visit and rapid
development of Azerbaijan. He said that, the countries have favorable opportunities for development of
economic cooperation, as well as trade relations, in which the private sector plays an important role.
Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu shared his views on Azerbaijani­Turkish economic cooperation, as well as the expansion
of relations between businessmen.
