Staff Profile - Lisa Taylor, Accounts Payable Specialist
Lisa Taylor works for MRCI-CDS in the
Payables Department and shared her story
of living with Moebius Syndrome. Lisa
assisted in a Special Education classroom
while in high school and saw how far the
students in the classroom improved in her
time there and wanted to continue in the
field of Special Ed. Lisa enrolled at the
University of North Dakota and was
majoring in Special Education until the
program was changed and she switched
to a Psychology major. She met her
husband, Matt her first year of college
and ended up moving to Mankato for
Matt to attend graduate school. Once in
Mankato, Lisa did some research and
decided she wanted to work for MRCI,
because her goal was still to help people
succeed. Lisa stated she wasn’t diagnosed
with Moebius Syndrome until the age of
four and watched her parents deal with the
frustration about the lack of information on
her syndrome. Understanding frustration
has made her more mindful to listen completely and to do her best to help the families we work with, Lisa stated. Lisa was
never treated differently by her three older
brothers. Lisa said she was hesitant to call
what she had a disability because at home,
it wasn’t. Moebius Syndrome is a nonprogressive craniofacial/neurological disorder that manifests itself primarily in facial
paralysis. Lisa said that through support
from Moebius Syndrome Supports she has
learned to embrace her disability. Many
people have told her not mention her disability during an interview but she said that
once she took hold of her disability and

The partnership between MRCI and the
MN Timberwolves and Lynx’s continues
into 2017. We are excited to be able to offer game tickets again this year. Monday,
March 13th, the Minnesota Timberwolves

7:00pm. If you are a fan and would like to
be considered for free tickets then send
owned it, it was like an “aha” moment for her.
She once viewed it as a weakness that you are
constantly trying to express yourself without
facial expressions but doesn’t view it that way
anymore. Lisa’s coworkers find her delightful
and just love her infectious laugh. Moebius
Syndrome Awareness Day, is January 24th
