Play Day over the Years!
Fun facts:
Play day has been a tradition for many years and will be on for many
years to come. It all started in 1970 when Sister Jacinta saw all the other
Montessori schools having a field day and decided to start one of her own.
•There have been 44 play days.
•Some people eat more than 10 snow

not always been themes. They did not start until about 2000. Before that it
was just fun games and crafts.
•A lot of people get mustaches for face
Every year there are things that are not themed like nail painting, hair
coloring, face painting, bubbles, dress up, fruit loop necklaces, corn hole,

The MMPA helps put together all the activities and games for play day
each year. We could not have play day without them. Thank You for giving
all Mercy students, both past and present, all the fun of play day.

1st grade - Kindergarden
“Winning Weekend”
The first grade and kindergarden team had a
soccer game on May 3rd and 4th. They played
Norwood on the 3rd, and St. Mary’s on the 4th.
On the 3rd, they won 4--0, and on the 4th, they
won 4--3. On the third, three different people
scored who had never scored in their time playing
Mercy soccer: Ambrose Cronican, Jackson Bush,
and Roman Saltarelli. The fourth goal was scored
by Nicholas Vredeveld. On the fourth, Nicholas
Vredeveld scored two goals, Jackson Bush scored
one goal, and Xavier Stocks scored one goal.
Although Ambrose Cronican seemed to have a
goal, the referee said the ball did not cross the
line. The Mercy coaches seemed to disagree with
the call. Mercy still got a corner kick, but there
was no other goal scored in the game. At the end
of the season, they were undefeated.
Congratulations to the team!

Teacher Interview
Ann Henning has been at
Charlie Klesa, a 4th grader, performs with the Cincinnati Ballet, downtown. He usually performs at the Aronoff Center, but he also performed once at the Taft Theater. Charlie started ballet in 2012. He did it because his sister’s ballet teacher said that he would be pretty good, so he said that he would join. Charlie does acting for Children’s Theater as well. He started acting in 2013, when he saw Wicked, and he saw how good the performers were. Then he asked his mom if he could do acting. She said yes. His favorite play is: Willie Wonka, in which he was an Oompa Loompa. Some other favorite ballets are: Camelot, in which he was Young Arthur, and the Nutcracker, in which he was Fritz. If you get the chance, you should go and see him perform.
