About the Instructor Lauren Leak has just moved to Travelers Rest from the Charlotte area. She began cheerleading at her middle school in Mooresville, NC in 7th grade, and she has yet to stop. She joined her high school cheer team and went on to cheer in college at Wingate University. After college, she cheered for the semi-pro team Carolina Knights and then started her own company in 2013. She has coached many cheerleading classes and has hosted three camps in addition to being a private cheer trainer for teams already established. She has a lot of experience in cheerleading, gymnastics and dance and she is very excited to bring her love of recreational cheerleading to the Travelers Rest area. THEISEN YMCA CHEER AT THE Y! CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Tumbling TUMBLING 1 Class DARING DIVAS Ages 4-11 This class will bring you back to the basics of all gymnastic skills. This class is designed to improve your form in more advanced tumbling as well as work on flexibility. You should take Tumbling 1 if you have never tumbled before, or are still a beginner. This level teaches forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, round offs, handstands, bridge kick overs and front walk overs. This class offer to all ages. This class will also focus on the next skill progressions up from Tumbling 1. EXTREME TEENS Ages 12-18 This class is designed for more advanced dances, cheers, jumps, and motions. This class is recommended for enthusiastic students who wish to pursue a position on a competitive or school cheerleading! This class has been created to help prepare students for extreme cheerleading. This class is packed with a constant review of proper jump techniques, stunting skills, motion drills, and both Level 1 and Level 2 tumbling skills. Cheerleading Classes One time registration fee: $15 Cheerleading This class is designed to teach children the basic skills needed to advance in the sport of cheerleading. Your child will learn to memorize cheers and master the art of performing cheers. With professional instruction, they will learn arm motion techniques, proper posture, jumps, kicks, and tumbling! This class will also further the students that have already mastered the basic skills of cheerleading. Students will fine tune their skills of jumping and tumbling, then students will advance on to more elite cheerleading skills. PRICES AND FEES TUMBLING 2 Class You should take Tumbling 2 if you have been in a tumbling class before, and can do all the skills listed in Tumbling 1. This class will start from bridge kick overs, perfect walkovers, start back handsprings, and start linking together round off back handsprings. You also need to perform a back handspring and a round off back handspring with no spotter at all. This class will begin with multiple back handsprings, teaching back tucks, aerials, punch fronts and combination passes. Class Fees: Members: $8.00 per class Non-members: $10 per class Tumbling Classes One time registration fee: $15 Class Fees: Members: $10.00 per class Non-members: $12 per class
